Buyer beware - buy online, sight unseen, you will be buying As-Is.

i'd never buy anything from an auction. unless i had the cash for a farily new vehicle.

people don't take care of their crap. chances are high you'll end up with a money pit.

Sounds like a good idea ... what could possibly go wrong?

Get some opinions from some owner-operators on here before you buy. Some good looking trucks have some serious EGR problems and those will bankrupt you quickly; the experienced 0/0's on here know what to warn you about concerning that.

Look at dealership trade-in lots for good used trucks. Dealerships like Volvo, Freightliner, etc. keep the good ones and wholesale out the problem trucks. Some used fleet trucks are pretty good and some have factory equipped APU's. Some trucking companies websites have a page for used trucks for sale. TransAm, Melton Truck Lines, TLC, & many more.

Unless you buy from an owner operator that you know was good to the truck, if someone doesn't own the truck they will beat it to hell anyway. I don't care that the oil was changed every ten thousand miles. Its all the other stuff you can't see is the issue. I bought a supposedly well maintained company truck and all I got was headaches from the start. Buyer always beware and if the offer you an after market warranty don't waste your money. Everything that breaks on a truck that is used is considered worn out and not covered. Been there done that.
