I was thinking about the cost of fuel, and fuel discounts discount cards and all that sort of thing.
And then I started thinking that when I buy fuel for my house, I get a discount if I buy at least a thousand gallons.
Does anyone use an above ground storage tank to receive discounts on fuel? If so, what kind of discounts do you get?

I doubt you will save much after delivery charge unless you buy a truckload at a time.

I had a sales guy come by my whse a while back, and the savings was not enough to once you add in delivery and tank rental.

Remember while back when it was 2.29gal ( 23k at 10K gal) now up what 3.29. This would be a 9,300.00 saving. Hell of a good deal if you can make it back home every two days; and had a 300 bbl tank sitting around.
Take it a little further and hold onto it tell it reaches 4.00. Now this would be doable if you bought at 2.29 gal and met all about criteria, 17K saving.Tug Toy Thanks this. -
With one truck your never gonna buy enough volume to get a major discount.....

My brother-in-law has a couple of 1,000 gallon tanks on the farm. One ag diesel, one unleaded for his cars. He saves enough to make it worth while. Of course his day job is delivering gas, so he might be getting the delivery for free (I.E. taking the truck home and emptying it himself)
As for a semi though, how often would one fill up close enough to the house to make it worth it?Tug Toy Thanks this. -
my buddy was getting def at around 1.50 in a 55 gallon drum that's doable for most people at home set it up for hand crank pump... I don't feel like that much fooling around .... home delivery of diesel will cost you more better to cut a deal with a local fuel stop

Depends how much fuel you go through, so just 1 truck probably would not make sense.
I have a 5000 gallon tank, but also had to go through the state and get all permits, create a spill prevention plan, etc. due to being over 500 gallons (or was it 1000?). It's not quite as simple as buying a big tank, plopping it down and filling it up.Tug Toy, stillwurkin and Dino soar Thank this. -
