Was just looking for some advice. I’m an O/O pulling general freight. I pull anywhere from 8k to 42k pounds. I’ve heard a lot of nightmare stories about the auto inflation systems and also about air ride. Right now, I pull a Hyundai Xtra lease trailer. No auto inflation or air bags. It has been a perfect trailer for the last couple of years. Time to purchase my own. My ears are open to any advice. Thanks, Drivers.
Buying a new dryvan trailer pulling general freight. Need input.

I would purchase this Wabash National | DuraPlate Cell Core Dry Van Trailers
I bought Stoughton over a year ago and don't like the build quality of it, while my Wabash is excellentBiggyTrans, jamespmack, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you’re going new I’d get the air ride, and inflators. Most of the problems with those systems are from people that don’t know what they are doing monkeying around with them.
jamespmack, Rounded_nut, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just bought one last year. I didn't want to pay for new so I searched long and hard for nearly new. After a lot of reading here I settled on a 2015 Great Dane plated/e-track van. It has auto inflators, air slide, air-ride (of course), lots of (LED) lights.
What I learned from my research is that auto inflators are good if they are on a relatively new trailer. The older systems were much less reliable. I haven't had one issue with mine at all.
I'll be due for my first PM in a month or two and will share what it needs after a year/100k miles.
I had a pretty good experience with Crossroads Trailer in Albert Lea, MN.jamespmack, Dino soar, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
The ONLY was I'd go new is Air Ride and Inflation system !!
Having that leaking tire and still being able to drive is priceless the first time it happens.
Your starting to see it in tractors now also... It's a great solution to the lazy driver problem the industry has as well.
Air Ride is a no brainier. It's much lighter, rides better protecting your cargo and you. You don't see many people jumping for joy at spring ride suspensions.PE_T, Dino soar, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
And if you really want top off the line..............make the first axle a lift.Rounded_nut, PE_T, KB3MMX and 1 other person Thank this. -
I agree with Dune-T on the Wabash, I would consider the paper spec with closer spaced cross members depending on the weight. Simply because I keep equipment a long time 10 + yrs. Last Great Dane I had the Tophat type cross members located between landing gear and kingpin plate failed along with the floor. Trailer was 16 yrs old, in fairness to Great Dane. Still it was the weak point.
86scotty Thanks this. -
Great Dane is the brand to go.With same condition,it hold value the most when you want to sell it.

I’ve asked this several times.....
What’s the difference between a tier 1 and a tier 2 Wabash dry van...? -
My super b-train trailers have the Hendrickson TireMaxx Pro inflation system. 5-1/2 yrs old now (550,000 miles), still works great.
KB3MMX and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
