I'm getting a burning oil smell thru the vents whenever the AC is running after I take off from extending periods of idling. The smell lasts for about 5 seconds then goes away. No out of the ordinary smoke and the oil consumption hasn't changed. The only thing out the ordinary is there's alot of soot around the breather tube area on the motor. The motor is a Acert non DPF...

    Anyone got an idea

Do you idle your truck up when setting that long ??
Right or wrong I was always told a Cat will blubber a lil oil out if not idled up. Idle mine at 900 to 1,000 rpm always.

Have a good look around the manifold and exaust make sure you don't have small oil leak somewhere dripping on hot exaust. It don't take much and it will stink

Look around the clamps on the exhaust manifold and turbos. I idled (800 rpms) for 4 days straight up in SLC a couple months ago. When I finally left, I had oil/diesel seeping from the clamps on the manifold. It smells and makes you paranoid about burning the truck to the ground. It eventually burned off after about 5 miles at 800-900 degrees on the pyro. I have a 6NZ that just got inframed about 40,000 miles ago. The hill coming east out of SLC on I-80 is finally what got my rings seated. I was going through a gallon of oil a week before that. Now I barely add any between a 12,000 mile service.
