My t600 keeps burning up compressor clutches and coils. It'll run great for about a hour our so while driving then air will go hot (check under hood) ac clutch slipping or smoking. Truck had new compressor installed along with new drier last saturday.

Tech should know wassup but:
- Gook parts ( clutch )
- Low or high voltage to clutch
- Bad bearings in comp or little to no oil /bad comp.
I say unlikely you got 3 bad clutches, comp is bad / has issue. Also unlikely it's a voltage issue ( but possible )
If a shop did the work and provided parts then one hour is a short time to let unit sit there and run ( high idle ) if they want to throw another clutch at the rig. SM should be smarter than that.
JMO bud, good luck -
A weak high or low pressure switch will cause the compresser to cycle constantly and burn a clutch. Mine had a bad Schader valve that the core was bent and caused my clutch to fail.

Very unlikely to get 3 NFG clutches in a row but stranger things have happened. How is the clutch air gap? Some of them you need to set the gap with shims. Too tight of a gap could cause it to drag when disengaged and too much gap could cause it to possibly slip under load.

Sounds like you got a bad compressor. If I understand your situation correctly your saying you bought a new compressor and air dryer and clutch. Then you went through 3 clutches. If that's the case then the compressor that was put on is bad. 90% of the time it's because of a reman compressor. If your saying that you bought a brand new compressor, then it's time to get on the horn with their warranty department b/c they owe you a new compressor and clutch.
My money is on the shop you went to using reman parts and you got a bad one. It happens, getting three bad clutches is a long stretch. -
or too much oil will burn the clutch up. has to work to hard to pump all the extra oil threw
-
Too much oil makes sense, but he said it burned the clutch up within an hour. Too much oil will shorten the life for sure, but losing a clutch in an hour is a red flag on mechanical failure.
-
Why did you replace the first one? What does the gauges look like? Is your engine fan coming on when head pressure gets high? Does the head pressure just keep going up even if the fan is on?
-
I have done it once in the past

Thanks guys i did all work in house. Installing new expansion valve and then going to recharge and check all system components. Was thinking it was either expansion vavle/cycling switch.
