So, I torpedoed a whitetail yesterday morning and bent the crap out of my bumper and the passenger side frame bracket (that holds the 2 mounting bolts). This was your average shiny 18" square bumper...has a Hendrickson sticker on the back. All I can find online are rather generic thin steel stuff. I was able to pull this bumper out of the steers by hand and I'm not particularly muscular so I don't want another like this.

Any recommendations on somewhat more robust bumpers? The HERD bull bars are on the Christmas list but not in the operating budget before that. I've seen nice ones on brand new WS winch trucks around here, but no leads and they didn't look stock either. Whats out there?

    Oh, 2004 4900EX btw.

Were you able to salvage the White Tail and take it to the Road Kill Cafe? Thanks.

12"-18" channel iron? Sand blast and paint! Will hold till your frame bends :biggrin_25520:

My Herd is coming in at the end of the month. My OEM WS one is built SOLID ($1502 at WS dealer), and shows next to no damage after a quick pull out.
PM me if yer interested in it. I was going to get it dead straight then sell it.

I did consider this actually...would be ugly as heck unless the ends were filled though. May have to call the local steelyard when I get past the house this afternoon. Definitely wouldn't break but might be a bit much for the stock mounts to support...

Wow ok that was interesting. At 18" the flanges are 4" deep, and it ranges from 40 to 58 pounds per foot of length. And half an inch thick too...think I'll call her Iron Jaw if I pull this off!

    Cetane+ Thanks this.

:headbang: Like I said, your frame will give first. :biggrin_25520: So seriously, see what it is to get a sheet of 3/8" bent at 18" with the flange length you want. Should still be cheaper. And the rolled edges will look better, give it a more finished factory look.
