Low wages in my area reflect low prices on stuff.

I just purchased 18 5 gallon pails of oil from tractor supply a few weeks ago, i initially was just going to purchase 10 5 gallon pails of hydraulic oil but when i got to the counter they told me if i purchase over 10 they give a additional 10% off the entire purchase.

There was a thread about Sinopec oils being sold on Ebay here, i was curious because the prices were low and the distributor is in my area.
    T600 15/40 synthetic 55 gal drum for $377.00 plus $99.00 shipping
AW 46 Hydraulic oil 55 gal drum for $255.00 plus $99.00 shipping
It is a Chinese company so i had my doubts about the product but the specs online seem good so i drove there and purchased a 55 gal drum of Aw 46.

I used the Traveller oil from Tractor Supply for over a year in my N14 before we rebuilt it. I was getting diesel in the oil at a pretty fast rate and wanted a cheap oil because I was changing it about every 4,000 miles or so.

The motor had 1.4 million on the clock when we tore it down. Bearings looked like you'd expect in a high mileage but well taken care of engine.

I've only done two oil changes since the rebuild and been using Rotella cuz that's what we have in the bulk tank at the shop. Thinking about going back to the Traveller oil though.

i have not yet been able to find much better pricing than 5 gallon pails, 55 gallon drums has been within cents per gallon in pricing when i last checked. grabbing 5 gallon buckets at a farm fleet type store when the go on sale seems to be the way to go. mabye if you go to a 250 gallon tote you may do better, i don't want to buy/store that much oil at once though. plus the 5 gallon pails are handy to have could probably sell the buckets for the per gallon price difference between drums and buckets...lol

Walmart. Chevron or Mobile on sale $10.50 gallon. Put 12 gallons in the trunk of the Camaro and go home. No muss, no fuss.

Mty drum of oil that I used up this year, surrounded with oil that I recently bought at Tractor Supply, will probably dump the buckets of oil in the drum, and yes I also got a better deal buying it in buckets and 2.5 gallons than the drum that I bought last year..

Its that time of the year where I start buying parts and accessories for the truck for next year, not just oil but years worth of filters tires and anything else I can think of that I will need. Luckily for me my maintenance fund is bulging at the seams hence the parts buying

Same here I've got shelves stacked with everything I need for more than a year of servicing the truck. Filters, coolant, sample kits, etc. Just waiting for another sale on oil to get a pallet of buckets. I always hated having to make a run to town to get stuff needed to service the truck. I'll waste an hour or longer doing that.
