So they finally did the smart thing with their permanently posted Craigslist ad and removed their name from it. That's the only reason I called.
Their pay per mile recently went up a measly $.02 per mile from .36 to .38.
The reason for the thread is that after almost 15 mins talking to the recruiter, 10 mins of which were before asking the name of the carrier, I noticed that there was no mention of detention pay.
I noticed the monthly drawing for a big screen TV and the recruiter mentioned an inevitable [though unpromised/unwritten] increase in pay rates, but no mention of detention pay.
They seem to scavenge the load boards like every other independent out there as evidenced by the response to the question: "what types of loads to you run?" However, when "food DCs" was one of the answers, I naturally asked: "what do you pay for detention?"
The answer was a poor attempt at a sneaky: "well, our layover pay covers that." No. I don't think so.
Needless to say, I think I'd have to be pretty desperate to work for a carrier that does food DC loads but doesn't pay detention.
