Read your broker agreement, usually you become responsible to repower the load at your expense and you pay any late fees charged by the reciever.
If it were my truck broken down I would be renting a Ryder or Penske, it will be cheaper then the repower and late fees. You will need good credit and at least $5,000 available on a credit card for Ryder, not sure about Penske. -
Let me modify my reply, from your screen name it appears you may be a straight truck, so your rental should be much easier, but the load transfer can be expensive. Most heavy duty row companies can bring out a flatbed and fork truck to transfer a load, cost a couple hundred dollars an hour.

I'm looking for storys for what brokers do with a down truck.
Like charge hugh fee's
Have a towing company pick up the truck.
Rebroker a power only to get the load delivered.
File a total loss on insurance claim (perishable product)
Get a bad attitude on the phone. -
Gotcha. My expierence is car hauling, common to swap the load to another rig if they are personal owned vehicles wih a deadline otherwise they sit until fixed.
I also have been a tower, have done many load transfers and even towed trucks hundreds of miles to finish the delivery. Never had firsy hand experience with a general freight broker as a carrier only as a tower.77fib77 Thanks this. -
You going to get fined by broker have to pay for repower! And if freight perishes you cargo freight insurance about to go through the roof!

I ran into a guy that had a brokerd load and couldn't afford to fix the truck. I wonder how he turned out with that.

I lost a transmition in York Nebraska coming from Chicago to Denver on a Saturday for Monday delivery. I called our company and had them bobtail to me and finish the load. Then called one of our coustemers and asked him who to call for a RGN. Company guy showed up Sunday morning to take the trailer and load to Denver for unload appointment. The RGN guy showed up about an hour later. Gave the company the whole rate for load and paid the RGN guy whatever he wanted to take me and the truck home to the company shop.
Truck was down a week. 4 of those days were the parts guy fighting with me over the warranty and one day for me to put the newly purchased at full price transmition back in the truck. My trailer showed back up at the same time I finished the truck. Back to work the fallowing Monday after the tow home.
Broker never knew the difference. -
