I've been looking for a storage trailer for a while and I'm Amazed by the amount of them that have no title.
I have been told by the notary that I have to have a title in order to bring it home. Is that true?
I have also been told that in some cases the township will require you to have a tag, which over here in the Hazzard county with Boss Hogg running things where I live I don't think that's a problem at least not now but not having a title makes me nervous.
Do I need a title to bring the trailer home and do I need a title in general. I would be pulling it home with my regular truck tractor.

I'd just take it home, then plant some shrubbery and plants around it. This way it looks like it's been there awhile.

I’ve got 3 different trailers from 2 estates of old truckers and one was a sold out closed down diesel shop that was down in the South Texas valley. They are 1963 ‘38 ft. Great Dane 1971 40 ft. West point Peppermill Fruehauf. ‘89 ex-Averitt then Yellow Fruehauf 48 ft. All were used as storage trailers by them and of course titles are lost/missing. I hooked and hauled them home full of parts, tools, and home antiques without plates. One a little over 400 miles from me. Just bills of sale showing they were bought as storage trailers for storage. I live in an area that is considered both commercial and residential and has no restrictions and they are no longer considered a highway vehicle anymore by the state. Now they are just a mobile storage building so to speak. I did build sheet metal skirts to put around the tires that match the shop to camaflauge them a bit. There are a few small trucking companies around here so parked trailers are common.
If they ever do give me trouble about them sitting I will just shuffle them around the property to make them look like they are being used as trailers. -
If I did bring home a trailer without a title do you just hook up and pull it home? No tag nothing just have the bill of sale on you and head home? -
Also there is a horse boarding stable in the area that bought 20 or so roll up door 40 and 45 footers when Merchants Motor Freight went under in the late 90’s. They had a couple of my uncles drivers hook and haul them in back then. They had titles with bill of sale but no plates. They then removed the axles and set them on concrete pads. Then one of the guys hauled all the wheels, tires, and axles on a flat to a local trailer repair shop that bought them from the stable owner.
Those trailers have been sitting there for almost 25 years and have been repaired and repainted a few times and have electric power to a few of them without anyone raising cain.bzinger Thanks this. -
The only thing I would be concerned about is that the trailer has been listed as stolen, somewhere, at sometime. Maybe some friendly officer in the area can run the numbers for you just to make sure.

How much you looking to spend. I’ve been trying to sell a 2004 with no luck. It stills hauls freight but also would be a good storage trailer too. Title in hand.

Dino soar Thanks this.

How much is a storage trailer? I've heard prices are expensive because people are buying them for scrap, and scrap prices are high.
