Truck's been sitting several weeks my brake pedal is sticking. Can't seem to get it to break loose having to reach down and pull the pedal up. Used to it would get back to normal after driving/using it a little while but not this time.

Hi rc, get back to work. ( I should talk) I had that happen too, and I think the brake valve under the pedal is sticking or the hinge on the pedal, but it's probably the valve. I had to replace mine on the old Pete.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
I have had the hinge stick on mine due to corrosion I guess. I just applied some WD-40 to the hinge and also a little penetrating oil. After a couple applications it gets better. Seems like it needs it every year or so. Probably from the salt in the winter.
rollin coal and 201 Thank this. -
PB blaster the joint, maybe a little wire brush.
If you can pull it back up by the pedal them it sounds like just the hinge on the bottom of the pedal.
If the brakes actually stay on and won't release with the pedal floppy n loose...get it loose with some needle nose channel locks, & use your trolley brake until you can get it to a shop for a fresh treadle valve.
On my W9 it was a ##########...for the guy I paid to do it-and it was worth every penny! Can't imagine a T6 is anything but harder.rollin coal Thanks this. -
I had this happen one one of my t-600's also. I just sprayed some penetrating oil in the hinge area the best I could and just worked it up and down with my hand till it got easier move. It takes awhile for the lubricant to get in the joints. It always happens to the one truck we have and not sure why it happens. It pulls this stunt once a year and after the trucks sits for a long time. Good luck

Actually, if it is the hinge, you might want to knock the hinge pin out, and clean it up, as it will happen again.
dirthaller Thanks this. -
Lucky me it was just the hinge. A little PB Blaster did the trick.

I've taken the hinge pin out and cleaned them up on 3 Kenworth's we've had including the W9 I'm in now. Tried lubing the first couple but it didn't last long. I was amazed that they all came apart so easy. I was expecting a battle.
truckon and rollin coal Thank this. -
If the treadle valve itself is stuck, not the hinge, you'll probably have to replace the treadle valve. The one on my W9 is stuck on the floor so anytime I have to move the truck around my back yard I have to vise-grip the lines shut so the brakes stay released.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
It sure looks like a mo-fo to replace. I suppose with 1.3 million and as much as my truck stays parked from time to time that day will come.
It's done this before but would always work free after romping down several times on the brake pedal. Never was a booger like it was this time.Last edited: Sep 8, 2015
