What's would cause break drums to bust in half?
I had one on the trailer bust and take out the air bags Monday and just now the same axle other side broke and took out that air bag.

Probably cracked due to age and wear. Have you stopped soon after a long down hill run and set the brakes? Setting the parking brakes while the drum are really hot puts a lot of strain on the drums as the cool.
Or have you had the drums off that axle recently? I've seen many break after being hit with a sledge hammer to get it off. Look close at where it cracked and see if you find a ding in it that looks like it was hit with a hammer.tsavory Thanks this. -
Age, been heated up to many times, which causes cracks in them like Arkansas said...

Well since both seemed to have happened shortly after breaks I would have thought what @GrapeApe said about setting breaks after long hill but I did not pull the trailer breaks since one was at fuel island and flat and the second was on flat semi flat spot at the Hood this old trailer takes forever to fill bags if deflated. Plus bad habit from running winters hate frozen breaks. LOL
So just going with the old and been heated and cooled one to many times. -
China made brake drums are sometimes drilled on outside edge of drum with a drill press to balance them and will crack in the drill hole, not all china made are like this but have pulled more than a few that were banging inside wheel or missing large parts?
