From what I have seen the sub frame cracks vertically just above and in front of the axle on the main beam .. but as you stated overloading and bad roads cause issues most they guys I know that have had issues it's on the newer trailers and they load 66" side trailers to the point that they have to crawl up and shovel the corn or beans to the corners so they can roll the tarp

Even being a 50 foot trailer and having an extra axle I'm only about 32k empty. Used to run 91k pounds everywhere, pushing the law to the last inch and maybe a hair over. I know guys running a quad axle hopper and a drop axle on their truck, 110k all day every day. I don't know how often you get to SD but pretty sure the guys running grain trains out here are pushing 160k.

Traps on Hopper are electric like the tarp.
I run mainly in ks, ok, no, ia, TX, ar, co.. ..
I used to haul at least 85500, but decided the tickets and damage to my truck and tires is simply not worth the cost,
Say I get 25 a ton. 50k puts me at about 79,000 gross or less. That is 1,250 bucks. My axles are legal, not tearing up truck/tires.
If hauled 85500, that is 28 or so tons. Extra 700 bucks. Axles probably 2,000 or more lbs over weight. Very bad on tires and axles. Plus the ticket. Maybe 250 to 450 in ks. 250 in ok if caught at scale. Truck confiscated can not move it, in Mo Iowa etc.. . Plus ticket. Might have to hire truck to come out and take part of load, very pricey.
Colorado could care less most of time.
So max 700 bucks more. Risk hundreds in fines. Maybe thousands to hire truck to take part of load. Lose a day or so of loads. Damage your tires ( they do have a weight rating) and suspension.
    For a few hundred bucks?
I only load heavy that is 80k on my truck or say 52,000 lbs instead of 50k, if the load pays very well.
I haul some loads that pay 50 or more a ton. Sure i'll haul a bit more for that. If I don't have s big risk of being weighed

    Exactly.
Well, I found hear Wilson has a more durable option these days. But yes, they were well known for cracks.

Interesting, most people around here want a Wilson hopper because they say Timptes are trash.

    Exactly.

Every 102” Timpte hopper will have rivets issues on the very top row at the front of the front hopper after a few years. Most don’t know it because it is hard to see.
Timpte is like Fitzgerald. What ever components they can buy cheap is what they use. I had a 2013 that used Fruehauf parts for brake rebuilds. I’m not the first to experience that.
Parts through Timpte are generally sold at gold plated prices.
Not necessarily a bad trailer just not my first choice. Wilson will be heavier than a Timpte.

Never heard of that issue before. I've honestly had very little issues with mine, it eats tires for some reason is my only complaint.

If you have a 102 get in the front hopper and check the rivets at the very top. Stan gin the nose and shine a flashlight to the very top. Very common on peanut hoppers.
Alignment? Shocks? Even slightly loose wheel bearings.

I have a 96 inch, been a few places mostly in Kansas where I was glad I didn't have a 102. Just had all the wheel bearings gone through and seals replaced in December. It's ate tires since I bought it new, think it's the whole triple axle part of it that causes that.
