I have been on Verizon for years until January 2017. My Verizon contract ended in June 2016. I had a Samsung galaxy note 2 on Verizon that I paid about $100 for with 2 year contract. Bill was around $109 a month for 10 gb data and limited talk and text.
My Boost mobile phone cost $49, LG Stylo 2. Unlimited data, talk and text for $50 a month on Sprint network.
I have been able to get data and talk in all the same places for a third or less of Verizon.

@Jazzy J ...I would have gone with Pageplus....still ride the verizon system, but no contract...and you can still use verizon branded phone.

    I get 3Gigs @ 4GLTE for $35/month or 7Gigs for $65

    I have a Note 4

I see this all the time. I had T-mobile for about 3 years and had data usage over 40GB and never saw a slow down. I've had my Sprint line for about 2 years and have done the same. Almost all of that usage is streaming of one kind or another. Since my home internet has a hard limit I used my cell as backup.

Now perhaps there is more throttling going on in major markets, but not that I've seen in about 5 years with T-Mobile and Sprint.

If you are OTR, boost mobile will not work. It's Sprint MVNO. Voice you will have no problem. Data, if you're not in a city/metro or on a major highway, forget it.

Total Wireless is a better deal than Boost Mobile and will work much better. You will actually have data access in rural areas, much of it 4G.

That's pretty pricey considering you can spend a couple dollars more and get unlimited with any major carrier. Everyone talks about slowdown but not many are seeing it. If you want cheap. Cricket is probably the best deal. And ATT owns cricket.

Times have changed. I don't know how Sprint does their prioritization because I was on the non-prioritized unlimited for years, but Verizon will just short of disable your data in congested areas if you go over 23 GB. The Verizon network seems to be way over utilized, so I've been in a quite a few truck stops where I got 40kbps download and could barely visit webpages and lots of google pages wouldn't load properly.

Verizon has the best coverage across the country. Total Wireless is owned by TracFone and uses the Verizon network.
.At&t has the second best coverage across the country. At&t wholly owns Cricket therefore Cricket uses the At&t network.
.Sprint owns Boost Mobile therefore Boost Mobile uses the Sprint network.
.Tmobile owns Metro PCS therefore Metro PCS uses the Tmobile network.
.It ain't the carrier; it is the network they are on that makes the most difference.

Att has the bigger footprint then verizon in utah. They also have less dead spots in salt lake city. They also work better inside walls and such. And a concert venue we frequently visit in the summer. Sprint and Verizon barely work at concerts.

The only drawback. Speed is much slower.
