Try turning the key switch at the ground control box from the ground control setting to the basket setting.

Also be aware that Genie's can be a pita to operate if you don't run them often. Make sure you keep the platform level or it'll go into recovery mode.

If there is no control box in the bucket . open the panel on the side and there should be controls there.

Genie S-85 will have controls in the platform, only thing that sucks is there is no drive/steer functions available from the ground, only boom functions.

    taxihacker66 Thanks this.

Most of my experience was in JLG lifts but have run a few Genies as well. As was already mentioned, make sure the switch is set for platform control and not ground control. Usually have to press down on the foot switch to make hand controls work. Be careful as well that it doesn't launch you out like a catapault, we had to wear full body harnesses running those things.

Anyway should have a a toggle/handle forward back and side to side is steer. Might be a switch to set it only one steer axle, both axles crab or max turn where one axle turns say all the way left and the other axle all the way right. the other toggle/handle is for forward back = up and down and side to side is swing left and right. There are other switches that can tilt the basket and if it has a scissors there might be other togglehandle for that but you shouldn't need to lift more than a couple feet to get it clear to move the chassis.

Stand aside folks, nothing to see here.....

On Genie 80' and higher boom lifts, there is a switch in the basket that extends the axles outward/inward. you have to extend the axles out before you can lift the boom past like 15 or 20 degrees, or scope the boom out. Sometimes the axles will want to stick, so first try driving the lift in a straight line while holding the control and this may help them extend. If this doesn't work, you may have to swing the basket out first straight out one side, then the other, and while doing so set the basket down on a skateboard or RGN trailer, or tilt the basket/jib down and set it on the ground, thereby taking some weight off the two tires on that side, and then the axles should extend for you. Then swing 180 degrees to the other side and repeat.

Just make sure before you retract the axles when your done to spray/grease them with some type of lube. You don't want to have to put pressure on the boom like that too often if you don't have to. Good luck.

Straight Stacks and AModelCat Thank this.

Oh, I didn't realize it was loaded....So did you try using the foot pedal and then the right-hand toggle? That should move it if it's running, and the ground switch is turned to basket. If not, and there is a switch in the basket with a turtle on one side and rabbit on the other, turn to the rabbit.
Also, is there a red light towards the middle of the panel blinking?
