I don't know how it is for general inbound/outbound loads, but I did a shuttle load that goes from one plant to another. I delivered the inbound load at 4:00AM Friday, and was not reloaded until 3:00AM the following morning. The reasoning? The load doesn't have to be in New York until Monday, so there was no need to rush to load and release it.
To me, that is blatant disrespect to the driver who is waiting on the load. Especially rolling into the weekend. I guess these folks don't care that drivers have families they'd like to spend time with.

Look in the mirror and blame yourself and your employer for giving your time away. That's the real problem here. IF people grew a pair and said NO, things like this would not happen.
Grouch Thanks this. -
When I called in to dispatch about it, I got the old it's one of our biggest accounts so we (you) have to put up with it crap. Not me. I'm already in the process of going back to local rock hauling. You usually get loaded rather quickly, and deliver even quicker.

What they need is to receive a bill for around 1200 bucks for detention. Bet ya the next dock boss would never let that happen again.

As long as drivers continue to be treated like "bend over the tank Frank" allowing carriers to treat them that way nothing will change. You teach your kids to say NO, maybe it's time drivers learned the same word.

Louie tried to talk me into taking that dedicated load a bunch of times, I just said I'd think about it, i didn't want anything to do with it. When he was telling me about it I heard 3 and 4am too many times in the description of the setup. Couldn't give me a coherent explanation of the mileage and all so I figured I'd leave it alone.

Which is exactly what I wish I'd have done. BTW, I've been meaning to PM you to say it was nice meeting you a couple weeks ago.

Yeah man you too, you looking to get out too?

I already did. I was offered my new position about an hour ago. Back to rock hauling. Home nightly, time and a half over 40, and a nice Freightliner Classic to motor around in.

Cool I enjoyed this thread
1. This shipper is an idiot!
2. Well it's your fault for putting up with it.
3. Yea that's why I just got a new job an hour an ago!
Good luck to you, sounds like a much better job where your heading too.
And I agree, that is absolutely ridiculous your company and the shipper, who operate their own fleet of trucks too, thinks that's okay. The worst customers are the ones that operate their own fleets for some reason. Oh well let the next chump deal with it.
