    O.K. Folks,I don't know ? so I'm asking.

Is there a ' Blue Book ' out there for Semi's,just like the N.A.D.A. book for Cars.

I have NEVER seen,or heard of one.

And If there is not one.....When Buying a Used Truck,The Price posted by the seller.

How much lower should you Start off at ? And meet in the Middle.

    Example : Truck is selling for $ 45,000....Should I ask for 35,000 ?

And then tell the person : ' Let's meet in the Middle '.

Or is $10,000 to BIG of a margin to Negiotate ?

Is there a Certain Dollar,or Percentage( Like off the Price ), of what the seller is asking for, that I should ask off to Negiotate ?

    Thanks,and Keep on Truckin ' .

chances are your not going to negotiate 30% off the asking price of the truck. i dont think there is really a blue book as prices can vary quite a bit do to upkeep specs ect

id feel out the seller before stating a number mabye try hitting them at %20 to start with but most truck dealers probably biuld 5-10% into there price for negotiation

It would all depend on what the truck is actually worth.

Best way to that is to compare it to similar trucks.

Truck paper will give you a good idea of market value for your area but dealers will mark up. Private sellers maybe not so much. But if you have cash then low ball them. Of course they won't bite but go up from there. Small dealers will work with you on price if it's a cash deal. When I was shopping the big boys were firm on price even with cash in hand.

I agree with TaylorMade. Cash is king but even then you have to shop around to get a good deal.

Like everything else in the world. That's how you get a price of $250 for a $5 pair of sneakers.

Thats the key right there. That includes personal cars and pickups as well. I've never used a book or website that says what I should pay for a vehicle. I do some research and see what others are 'ASKING' and then what they are actually 'SELLING' for. I then decide what I want to pay,.. if its what I want,.. I'll pay a slight premium for what I want. If there is anything I find wrong or something that doesnt seem right,.. I either walk away or negotiate until I feel the deal is in my favor.

As stated,.. you have to feel out the seller. How long has the truck been listed for sale? Whats wrong with it? Does it meet your criteria? Negotiate from there.

Even IF you found a big truck blue book. Next thread would be title:

Why don't truck dealers sell by the Blue Book?

hurst is right. You just have to compare similar listings. Then ask yourself where your at on it. My truck first popped up on craigslist for $15k. I wish I bought it then, it reappeared a couple months later on a dealer lot for $21k. I offered them $16k, we settled on $19k. Even knowing they were getting me for $4k, I still wanted it.

My dealer threw in some pretty chrome mud flap hangers and swapped seats out of another truck same make and model. So when you go to a small dealer you kindve got them where you want em when paying cash. To bad he only came off the price $2000 grand but the seats and mud flap hangers made me feel a little better. I should've tried to get the tripac off another truck for dirt cheap. Lol
