So I haven't been trucking in a while but I got diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis a few weeks back, the doctor immediately asked if I was sitting on a plane or car for too long, I haven't and this thing just appeared in my leg...just wondering how common is this condition among truckers? Also friendly reminder to stretch as much as you can when possible this thing is horrible...
blood clots...

I try and stop every 150-200 miles, if I can, to stretch my legs and lower back. I have a puppy on the truck now, so also use that time to walk the pup
Crossbone-X1 and Puppage Thank this. -
a very good news reporter for NBC news and co-anchor on the weekend Today Show, (David Bloom) died of the very same thing, when he was covering the war in Iraq. he was in a cramped tank, day after day. then the clot killed him, so yes, this does happen.

I've thought about blood clots and try to stretch out a couple times a day.
Crossbone-X1 Thanks this. -
I take baby aspirin to help prevent this and also take walks.
diesel drinker Thanks this. -
With the decline of manual transmission & clutch pedals the problem will increase. I've been in an auto truck for a year and my left leg is stiff most of the time. No problems prior when I used the clutch a few times a day.

Take this serious,I had one in my arm but leg is more dangerous.your doctor should put you on a blood thinner,I was on xeralto. They will monitor it with a machine, but yes you need to wiggle your toes when you are sitting and constantly move your legs while you have this as it can kill you.very dangerous in the leg.just do what the doctor says, keep good circulation, and you will be ok but take it serious.good luck,u will be ok but take it serious and don't drive a truck until it is gone!

Very important to wiggle toes and keep legs shaking and moving nurse told me,good luck.

It's important to get out of the truck, it's tempting to just do another hr, but a 5 minute stretch and walk will do wonders.
