I'm sorry for the sensitive subject matter but I think it is an important one. Has anyone had blood clots from driving here and what have you guys done after that or to prevent them. Does aspirin really work or are you guys on different or other medication. Do you guys stop your truck and get out every 2 to 3 hours like the CDC recommends so that you don't get blood clots? Can you do that during jobs?

You probably wont have time to stop every 3 hours but it depends on the job

Yeah, I got the clots. They put me on Eliquis twice a day and told me to get out and walk around every 2-3 hours. Cool by me as I like to check the tires and such often. This was flatbed work, so no worries about appointment times. May be tougher to do on a strict schedule.

he was covering the war news in 2003, on location, and got blood clots, cuz he pretty much did not get out of the military armored trucks, or do any other kind of walking while there, and he died.
so yeah, even if you are on a tight schedule, try to stop at least once every 3 to 4 hours, for a "squirt of the dirt", and a quick walk around of checking your tires.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

It speaks volumes about the attitude most companies have toward their drivers. Blood clots are a real danger for truckers. Even the airlines, when you are taking a flight lasting more than a couple hours, have their attendants suggest getting up and walk around every couple hours during the flight. The attendant mentions this a part of their pre-flight spiel. But in trucking, the companies don't want you to stop even for your health. This is something that should be addressed during training, orientation and throughout the year. Not ignored completely.

After reading about the problem, I started taking a daily low dose aspirin and after a while I started getting nosebleeds, and playing with my dog resulted in bloody scratches on my forearms (from toenails, not teeth!). So I stopped…
