I'm Looking to do a little research on how many semi-trucks nationally have blind spot sensors that alert drivers when someone is in the blind spot. Does anyone have a gauge on how many trucks do/ don't have this type of system?

    blairandgretchen and tscottme Thank this.

American Trucking Association and the truck manufacturers probably have the numbers you are looking for. Also, an internet search of recent magazine stories about trucking and safety measures will probably give you a ballpark number.

    More sensors/cattle prods! How exciting!

More cattle prods = less qualified X more Stupids = Less Pay = less retention = “Driver shortage”

I have mirrors and use them. I don't worry about blind spots.

I’m going to guess you’re looking to develop a product - but @TripleSix is right.

The current flat and convex spot mirrors on trucks , with a hood spot on passenger side provides plenty of view if drivers eyes and brains are functioning.

Coupled with situational awareness, scanning of mirrors, and assertive driving habits - there is little need a TRAINED driver has for more bleepy, gadget, app, website, flashing, automatic, pre-emptive ANYTHING, to add to a truck.

The whole ‘stay out of no zones’ campaigns need to be scrapped for a “Stay the hell away from large vehicles “ campaign. With nice gory footage of tires blowing up and taking out motorists.

It’s been 5 years or so since they’ve all the cattle prods in cars and trucks. Are traffic conditions better? Or is the average first world motorist a complete moron? Why can’t they figure out how to get down the on-ramp and MERGE? Wait! There’s no merging app! Kinda like a GPS device that will sync with the cars on the highway and help nondrivers to merge seamlessly.

Would be a big hit on a luxury car, but these geniuses want to put more cattle prods on trucks because “trucks are the problem in traffic.”
