Do you know who bakes your bread and pastries?

Grupo Bimbo SAB, Mexico, Latin America's biggest industrial baker, took another big bite out of the U.S. bread market Wednesday, announcing it would spend $2.38 billion to acquire the U.S. operations of Canadian food giant George Weston Ltd., in a fully debt-financed transaction.

Before this buyout, Bimbo Bakeries USA ranked 98th on the list of private carriers with 265 tractors and 1,271 straight trucks serving 3,000 delivery routes in the western U.S. The deal will boost the size of the fleet.

Our local supermarket has its own bakery. And the only bakery items that we buy, are made right there. At least that is ONE thing that we KNOW where it comes from. . .

Of course, who knows where the ingredients come from?
