Taking a bike along when on the road seems to be a good idea to me. I'm sure others are doing it. I can't think of anything more convenient to get around town when your rig is tied up somewhere it fits nicely. But I can't find a bike rack made especially for a tractor. Is this because you can always find a little room for two more wheels in the trailer?

Get a uni-cycle...:biggrin_25523: Last winter or the winter before last when I was with maverick. I was loading beside another mav. He had a bike on his headache rack. Looked like a real pain to get to his chains and binders with the bike there. There was a foot of snow on the ground. I asked him, just how often are they getting you home?:biggrin_2554:

I've thought about similar lines (taking a bike along) once I'm out on my own.

Our city buses here in Clarksville have bikeracks mounted on the front - might go down to the busbarn and take a closer look or find out who supplies them.

I've seen bicycles on the cat walk, On the roof of a midroof, tucked behind the air deflector, in the spare tire carrier of the trailer, in the jump seat, and inside the trailer as well. Oh yeah, tied on to a flatbed as well. :biggrin_2552:

I would think carrying a bike along with you to be a good idea.. In a small town it would be nice to go for a ride maybe eat somewhere besides where you have to park, see some sights, most importantly exercise!! Maybe one of those fold-up bikes would be easier to carry on or in your truck???

My uncle carries one those fold-up jobs right in the cab. He's a pretty big dude and he says its plenty sturdy enough for him. It folds up really small too.

I've been thinking of getting a bike and just chaining it up behind the cab, but the spare tire holder is a great idea too.

I never did a bike rack, although I'd love to figure out a way to carry a motorcycle.

What I did do was carry a soccer ball in the truck. A lot of places I went had plenty of concrete walls to bounce it off of, and it's a good way to work up a sweat.

Perhaps there is a way to secure a bike to the landing gear with a 2'' ratchet strap and some bungie cords. I would think a rack up front would only provide for inconvenience.
