I purchased a 2009 Kenworth W900L in trade from MHC Kenworth in Dallas Tx on September 2010. Truck had some warranty left plus it has the CAT ESC Plus warranty. I requested for the dealer to supply me with all shop papers and check for all recalls to be updated. The Dealer never did.
August 26,2011, I broke down in Alma Illinois while under load going to Ft. Dodge IA. Without any warning, the fan hub bearing siezed and the whole thing went through the radiator causing about $4000.00 in damages plus towing. With towing included in my OOIDA policy, I had the truck and trailer towed to Effingham, Ill, the closest CAT shop was the Heartland Peterbuilt Dealer. They completed the repair in day and a half and I was soon back on the road.
I made a stop in Demoines IA because the expansion valve on my AC had gone bad. After I explained to the service manager at Central Iowa Kenworth what had happened a couple of days ago, he checked the files on my truck and told me there was a Technical Bulletin about a fan bearing failure on my truck issued in 2009 by the Director of Quality at Kenworth Truck Company. I asked if he could print me a copy of this bulletin which he gladly did. After reading it I came unglued. The original bulletin of course was mailed to the original owner of the truck, however, the Dealer I bought the truck from also had a copy of it on file under my truck's VIN number, and MHC did not notify me of this bulletin at the time of purchase even though I had requested all these files.
The bulletin explained the failure and warned against "progressive failure" (in my case radiator and shroud damage), and extended the original warranty in order to cover for the repairs at no charge to the truck owner.
Inmediately, I brought this to MHC's attention and faxed copies of all repair orders and towing. I spoke to the salesman that sold me the truck and he and his boss took this to the service manager who in turn said they were under no obligation to tell me about the bulletin. They called me about an hour ago and told me MHC will not do anything to help getting my money back.
I have contacted the Better Business Bureau in Dallas and with OOIDA's help, I have contacted an attorney in the Dallas area to handle this for me. I will keep posted all new updates on this case.
I will not buy another piece of equipment from another MHC dealer ever.
I warn anybody reading this against trusting their equipment to any MHC Kenworth facility. Your experience will not be a pleasant one if you do.

I'm not defending MHC because they are lousy and I once got ripped a new one by the service and body shop in Nashville, TN but it is up to you to research that kind of thing on a truck. Just asking the salesman to take care of it wont cut it. He has sales to make. Him taking you to the service department and pulling that info would be best, but 5 minutes after you walk out or whatever he's already forgotten you aside from making the sale if all you did was ask him to check that in the course of your conversations.. it sucks but peoples words don't mean anything in this day and age..

Sorry your having a hard time, but holding the entire MHC at blame and not to go to anyone in the country?, with that thinking, then when one driver does something stupid, we should all be held to blame

I went to mhc in dallas yesterday, my boss bought 3 t800's from them and I was to drive one back. He specifically told them we would be there saturday at 1100 and to check the trucks out and have them ready when we got there. We showed up and ome of the trucks wasn't there, the ac wasn't working on one, and all three had speed limiters although my boss told them he wanted no speed limiters. The salesman told us (the drivers) that because it was saturday they didn't have the time to fix what was wrong... They had known when we were coming for 4 days and till hadn't checked the trucks over. I agree with the o/p about bad service from them

Intothesunset and DIESEL WEASEL Thank this.

Your problem is with the sales person that the trucks were purchased through not the whole MHC Dallas branch.

If your last name was Dahmer would that mean.....well hopefully you can figure the rest out.

Sir, with all due respect, I am just trying to share the experiences I've had with this Company. Not just Dallas, but just about every branch
in their network. ITS ALL SHODY WORK AND MECHANICS.
I am only specifying Dallas, simply because that is where I bought the truck. I have proof that this company has a permanent open season on the owner operator and driver. They charge more than twice the price for parts than any other dealer, just as an example.
This is the 8th truck I've purchased and my experience with MHC has been a nightmare. LIke I said I am only sharing my experience, and I will never again spend another dime at any MHC location.

The MHC Dallas shop aint worth a #### either!!! I went to them only because it was a holiday weekend and they were open. I had a cherping noise in the motor and told them something was broke on the top end. After waiting for 2 days they start to work on it and the mechanic said nothing was broken and the valves were to tight and wanted to run the overhead and see it that would take care of the problem. I said thats not the problem, somethings broke either in the center of the head or the rear. So they take the valve train off the center, nothing wrong, take the rear valve train off, a nut had came out of the jake and was on top of the rocker arm hitting the jake. Had to order a new jake. After 4 days they said I was ready to go. I was looking over the repair order and no where did it say they reset the valves. I ask and he said he didnt move the adjustment nuts and it went back together the same way.
Never in my life have I heard of taking the valve train off and putting it back on without running the overhead. It ran like crap afterwards and I took it to my CAT shop and had the overhead ran and they said the valve setting were all over the place, some tight some loose.

If I brake down right in front of MCH Kenworth Dallas I'll have it towed to another shop!!!
