I’ve used the major 3, Power Service, Howe’s and Lucas. I’ve used the fungicide fuel treatment as well. Never really seen any real clear cut advantage from one to another but I still use them. Are there particular brands of engines that you’ve seen these additives work better for? I know Cummins endorses Power Service. What have you guys seen and what do you prefer?

For the most part i have found they are a scam aside from occasional treatments for specific problems. In a well maintained engine they do little if any good beyond a point and CAN do harm. On the other side of that coin however they can help mask problems with a poorly maintained truck or an older vehicle....but its usually a case of kicking the rebuild can down the road a few more months at best. And they can help sort out a minor problem such as too much water in the fuel or the like.
As for which is best i have always used lucas oil additive if im unsure of my oil quality or fear contamination. It tends to do a decent job of cleaning any crap out especially if a truck sat for a long time. For fuel problems hot shots secrets is the only one ive found to be actully effective. Got about 20 gallons of water in my tanks once and it cleared the problem right up. -
Do you need any of them if running good quality fuel?
Oxbow, singlescrewshaker and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this. -
I like Howes or Stanadyne.

"But it said it was treated on the pump?" Can't tell you how many times I heard that one.
Power service is good stuff all around, all flavors. Howes is in stock, too. No experience with anything else personally.
Don't really care for Lucas. Some love it for Oil additive. I'd rather just use quality oil.p608, Oxbow, singlescrewshaker and 7 others Thank this. -

0F is only -18C, I have driven in much colder, for many winters, no additives, no freeze ups.

I've never seen the need for additives in general. All the fuel here is good to 35-40 below before it starts to cloud.

Guess we here in the US need to start importing more fuel from the North Eh......Lol.....
What I can tell you is on a -10 to -20 *F day. We see regular tow ins and freeze ups that can take forever to get thawed out. I would never dream of running something down to -40F without additive.markk, jamespmack, Oxbow and 9 others Thank this. -
