Check with ABF dock-to-driver program.
~
Employees start as dock workers, then attend a six-week hourly paid training program at one of 35 ABF Freight service centers around the country to earn their CDL. The program combines classroom instruction with over 160 hours of behind-the-wheel experience to set trainees up for their future driving careers.

Think you're looking at Local 988 could be wrong. At a quick glance it looks like Quality Carriers is on their list of companies they represent down there. I worked through Quality as a union driver. Best Family benefits I ever had in the transportation industry hands down. Pay was decent, 1000-2300 take home per week. use to love running the system and getting big checks. not sure how many drivers are on their seniority list, or how many are there all together. QC had pretty good equipment and switched from Macks to Freight liners. trailers were sometimes old gems or brand new. union, if i had an issue about safety it was taken care of pronto. Get past your probationary period and then you can pretty much run the show on what you want fixed and refuse to do. Only complaint is how they spec'd the fuel tanks. terrible. Use to have dual 125 i think on the mack. The freight liner was like 50 on one, and 75 on the other. fueling like every day pretty much. Did have APU thermokings installed on all trucks.also at the time it was foward facing cameras only but since i traveled over there recently it looks like they added another camera system on the hood mirrors? idk but they did NOT have driver facing. Training was in Balitmore, I drove down. I did look into them and that has since changed and its in NC or SC, but I think they might have one down in houston aka chemical ally.
The pay broke down into Hourly for anything on clock. Mileage for driving, layover pay per night slept in the truck 50$, there was other ways to earn too.
If that's something you are looking for then I would start by applying to QC and see if they'll hire you on.
At another glance is looks like Univar is there on the list too but I don't know much about them.
Or you could always dress your license and go LTL. seems the way to go these days.
