Just wondering what kind of flat screen is the sturdiest for carrying on the truck? I bought a 32" vizio about a month ago. I hung it on the wall at the foot of the bed and sit it on the foot, upright, when I'm driving. Turned it on last night and its already broke. Get a pic on bottom half of screen but nothing on the top but black and a few vertical like lines. Any suggestions or thoughts on a new one?

My Skyworth has been with me going on 2 years now, has been bounced around pretty good while in the truck and it still functions and displays as good as it did when I first bought it. It's a 19" LCD with the DVD built in. I have it mounted on a modified desktop bracket with an articulating arm, which provides a certain amount of shock isolation. I collapse it back into the TV hole when not in use.

I have had a 19 inch Vizio in several trucks for over 6 years. I had it bolted to a home made plywood stand that sat on the old triangular shaped shelf for the cathode tube TVs. 2 years ago I got a new Prostar with a swing arm TV mount so I mounted it with the 4 screws to the back. The bumps and jarring of the truck cracked the plastic so bad I had to use half a roll of duct tape to keep it from cracking completely and falling off the mount. It looks like crap and you can hear plastic crunching everytime I move the swing arm but it still works. I won't get another one until it dies. If I get a new one I am going to put a few strips of duct tape on the plastic to strengthen it before I mount it.

Any TV is good, you have to mount it right and keep it safe.

I've got a 30" dynex. Never heard of them before I got it. Was a best buy cheapo
special on sale. 4 years now still going strong no issues. Ran a length of chain through a standard swivel wall mount and hang it over the top bunk stop. I hear it bouncing around back there if it's really rough road but it's taking a licking and keeps on ticking.

The truck is a midroof Columbia. I mounted the TV above the window in the passenger side. I used a wall mount and ran 2x6's between the aluminum cross members in the wall. It doesn't move. I just am not sure if the vibration caused it to mess up or not.

I'd add also that an antenna amplifier is a big plus for getting better reception outside of metro areas. Got mine at malwart for $25 but better ones go for up around $50. Installs inline between the antenna and tv. Sometimes if you're in the middle of nowhere you just aren't going to get anything but if you're on the fringe areas of reception it makes a big difference in how many channels you can get and how good the reception is

Husband bought a NAXA with built in dvd player, from TA I believe. It lasted for about a year just sitting on its' stand on the little hole over the cabinet, but bounced out one day, he had it secured, and broke. Bought another one and decided he didn't like the size of the screen, so I inherited it and use it with the air antenna to pull in PBS since I don't have cable. It has a good picture, volume could be louder but I can use the other external speaker on it.

Next one is a RCA from Sam's Club, about 20". He got the wall mount and mounted it this time and tries to keep it secured. There is so much vibration and the bad roads that jar it around, so I am not sure how long it will last.

His antenna on the truck works to bring in reception. He had tried 2 different air antenna boosters, but they did not work as well.

He has my old speakers off the old Gateway computer on it to make it louder. Tried one a jawbone set and it didn't work, and a set from Walmart.

Years ago (2008) we swiped my grandson's Spongebob tv that I had paid only $49.00 for, and used the old dvd/vcr player from home. It got bounced around some, but I don't think as much as roads do now. Could only pull up stations in bigger cities though usually. This was before they started having all these HD stations and cable taking over so much.

View attachment 82581 That's how I had the original one mounted. I guess I'll try and stabilize it a little more.
