Durable as in if you drop it a lot?

I've been using an old 32" 1080P Samsung Plasma (Glass screen and heavy, but beautiful picture quality and viewing angles compared to LCD/LED screens) that I had originally bought for my wife's office back in 2007. My son used it for a computer monitor for a few years before he moved out on his own.
Left it behind and lately I've been using it here in the truck for movies and tv shows.

My laptop ha an HDMI out port,.. I plug it into the TV. I made my own wall mount and here in my Columbia I have a large bin on top of the driver and passenger area,.. I hang the tv there and lay back in the bunk using a track ball to control the laptop and just click on what I want to watch.

As far as durable,.. I wouldnt drop the TV,.. I doubt it would work. I store it on the bottom bunk with a beach towel wrapped around over the screen and use the bunk netting to keep it from crashing out of the bunk if I had to stop hard.

Been like this for better part of almost 2 yrs now.

Thanks hurst. Looking for low power draw and can withstand the daily vibration of a vehicle. I have a cheap "naxa" and it's just that...cheap Chinese tv. LOL.

They are all cheap chinese now days. Electronics for the most part or pretty vibration resistant. Mine rests on the mattress,.. I have considered getting a lighter TV and using an adjustable wall mount to my side cabinet to eliminate the need to move it from my bunk when ever I want to sleep.

I doubt even the roughest of roads would have much effect on the reliability of the TV. I mean you can get a cheap Visio 32 - 40" LCD for under $200 now days. I paid $980 for the Samsung 32" I have in here. They were still crazy expensive back then,.. particularly the 1080p models. Outdated in comparison to todays 4k models. And sadly,.. they dont make plasma anymore. It had such a superior color and visual definition compared to LCD,.. they were expensive to produce compared to LCD,.. consumers were not willing to pay extra for plasma I guess.

I honestly wouldnt be too concerned out it.

The company installed (cheap) LGs in all the trucks.
Wall mounted. Seems to be holding up just fine..

Sadly I didn't have a lot of options beause I didn't want to have to move the TV every day and I don't have a tv mount nor the ablity to add one where they normally are placed. So I went with the vizio 24 inch unit because it had a good base I could feed the straps though on a 2016 Prostar. I really wish International would just start adding tv mounts to these trucks. we're passed the point of tubed tvs and these straps don't work well for flat tvs.

The advantage of this tv is its actually a smart tv. So I can connect to netflix and the like without another device. Also has CEC so it can control my nexus player without needing the nexus remote. (Since I've losted that remote a few times.)

New to the group (and trucking.... well not yet kind of. I'm a CDL student graduating in June). Just trying to get a feel for things. A previous post said that they hung it up every day? I'm not putting it together on how or where this is done. Are pictures able to be uploaded to this forum?

Some trucks have a mount built into them similar to what you'll find in a house. (Though they tend to be designed for smaller tvs. Like sub 30inches.)
