It's time for another set of steer tires. I've had good luck with my Toyo's but I think I can get a better price through LCAPP with landstar. Unfortunately, they don't offer Toyo's. The closest thing is Yokohama's I think. So, I'm thinking of switching to something more easily accessible through the truck stops. I'm leaning towards Continental or Michelin, but I've never run them. Anyone have any reccommendations and or experience with a particular steer tire? Thanks in advance for any advice or information.

i run bridgestone. last 2 sets were bridgestone 287a. those things wore great. the 280 is also a great tire in my opinion. but really it just comes down to personal prefference. i had a set of contenintal hsl2 for steers. i thought they were great. also kinda depends what you do with the truck also though........

Absolutelly the best is Michelin XZA3 plus. The safest stronger case, excellent miles, pretty low rolling resistence, very good against uneven wearing. My truck is very nose heavy, I am always close to 12,000lbs on the steer axle. Bridgeston lasted about half as many miles. On drive axles I tried a couple differentA class tires, stil Michelin was the best, but on steer I would not put anything else.

Agreed. Our 06 has a set of bridgestone steers not bad not great theyre wearing funny one tires wearing faster than the other although theyre wearing even across the tread. My 2000 has a mix of china crap (roadmaster i think) worthless crap imo. Same with the drives cept for 2 dunlops. Want them off ASAP! Michelin makes by far the best truck tire on the market imo. Xza-3 steers xda3 drives. 7 year 700000k warranty low rolling resistance and i trust them plus i get like 15% off at bauer built and that always helps with 5000 in new rubber.

I'm always around 12,300 or more on my steers and have had the best luck with the Goodyear 399 in load range H. Bridgestones, Yokohamas and Kelly have not done as well, but they were all G's from truckstops.

thanks for all the feedback guys. looks like I'll be replacing them in the morning. I just noticed a spot on one of them that is worn much farther than I thought.....looks like 117k is all I'm gonna get out of this tire! My passenger side steer though has enough tread on it I think I'll be keeping that one for a spare. Again, thanks for all the feedback...looks like I'm going to be at the mercy of whatever the T/A has to offer. I'll look into the Michelins I think.
