I'm sure it really makes no difference where on the axle the leveling valve goes but just curious as to which would be the best spot. I was going to weld a tab onto the center of the diff housing and mount the valve to the rearmost crossmember but I'm thinking it might fit better if I mount it off the frame rail and attach it to the side of the axle housing. Any advantages or disadvantages to either location? Airliner suspension, single drive axle.

Apparently not on this one. I think the original leveling valve on the Shaker this diff came from was on the front drive axle. No spot anywhere on the rear housing to hook the rod to. Easy enough to weld a little tab onto the pumpkin to bolt the rod to though.

Yeah it definitely won't work well on top. Torque arm would be in the way.

My only concern about mounting it so the rod attaches to the center of the rear cover would be the arm getting snagged on a trailer when the suspension is deflated. Guess I could suspend the valve under the crossmember to keep the arm lower with the bags deflated.

Pete Air Trac has it off the centre of the rear diff. Easy to get at for service and I've never seen one get caught on the frame. They're mounted on the left frame rail dead centre height wise. My friends 01 WS had it off the front diff under the 5th wheel. What a pita to get at. Would not recommend putting it there.

20170813_102013.jpg here is how mine is mounted. This is on a FLD120. For some reason I thought it was mounted on rear end
    This is a Neway suspension
    Hope it helps

I'll have to do something like that. I tried getting my KW crossmember to fit close to the rear diff so I could mount the rod onto the center of the rear housing. No dice, kept running into issues with the air bags. Had to utilize the FL crossmember to make it work, which means unless my leveling valve gets a 14" arm its just not going to happen.

You can buy adjustable rods, if that will help to get your desired hgt.

20170814_075422.jpg 20170814_075344.jpg These are how they are mounted on my KW with neway and starcar with hendrickson. Top pick is starcar bottom KW. Both rods are adjustable just loosen the little hose clamp on the rubber and slide the rod.
