So im looking at upgrading my current truck. I am looking for maybe a 17ft bed with a 14000 lb crane. Im running a 14ft now but its not big enough. I work only out of my truck, working on equipment and concrete trucks. Im looking mainly at maintainer but haven't used one personally. I have used Imt and auto crane but they dont make custom beds. Ive priced feterl and caseco but they 30000 more and caseco seems cheaply made. Any experience I would like to hear.

Not sure what you have available where you are but I've had a truck with a Pride Body. It was already refurbed once when I got assigned the truck and it was rock solid. Survived mine work no problem. I don't have much good to say about Ventures bodies, the few we had were pretty beat after 3 years of bush/mine use. My last 2 trucks had Thermoking bodies and they are ok but most of my work is highway now and not much bush/mine work. Only cranes I've used are Cobra 5105's. Pretty decent crane but only good for 5k lbs.

I've heard really nice things about maintainer beds and cranes. I don't do enough road service calls to need anything that big so I'm stuck with just a short little reading bed.

Ive used the reading and venture havent been impressed with either. How did you like the cobra cranes? I heard they sell real reasonable with exchange rates. They make a 14k now

The Cobra was ok. It had a variable trigger so it was very smooth. Remotes were a bit problematic. It regularly hits -35 here so it wasn't uncommon for the wiring in the remote cord to break. The 5105 on a tall service truck was just big enough to pull a complete swing transmission on an 850 Deere excavator and install a complete engine into a small 330 hoe. I wish we had small class 7 trucks with 14k lb cranes for those big jobs, just for the extra height/length. F550's are almost inadequate for the big mining equipment.
