Power-only is what I’d be doing. There are a lot of new, sold, empty, and loaded trailers out there that just need moved. You have zero obligation to any specific market or company. I have a buddy doing it and his numbers are far above what most are getting, right now. People just need their stuff moved, ASAP.

Also we do dry van and flatbed. Currently flatbed out performing dry van by at least a grand per week. I don’t know about reefer. But I’d only do dry van if you have to. -

Power Only is the route I would go if I didn’t have the money to purchase a trailer outright. Those rental fees are very expensive and usually for older trailers too. For Flatbeds google Fontaine TNT. They have rentals. I wouldn’t know anything about Reefer freight other than I’d be digging ditches than backing up to food warehouses
Seriously though find a lane that you like to run consistently and see what freight would pay you the best. If running long haul is your deal Flatbed isn’t going to pay as well as long haul Reefer in some markets. Reefer is year round where Flatbed is more seasonal. With these mega carriers and big brokerage firms having trouble getting freight moved quickly. The rates on power only can sometimes spike in big way if you like waiting the day of to dispatch yourself. Good luck with your new business.

I'm actually considering turning in my flatbed to do power only.
Rates are soo cheap is just not worth it renting a trailer right nowchimbotano, Siinman and ducnut Thank this. -
If I wasn't already years into being an MC and was getting into this game right now I'd look at signing up with someone with direct freight customers. Lanstar or Mercer or someone local near you. No need to take on a trailer payment and work spot when it's paying #### all.
Whatever you do DONT lease onto a company that takes some retarded amount like 20% but pulls their freight from the spot market.chimbotano, Siinman and bamanation Thank this. -
With the rates being low the way they are, I’d rather pull a reefer than a dry van, the rates are better, the wait times to get loaded and unloaded aren’t much different and you can make up for the lower rates by getting detention pay.bamanation and chimbotano Thank this.
