Hello Professionals!
I have a slightly strange question, but I'm tormented to work with the google fi mobile plan that my company provides for free. I am connected about 90% of the time, but I would like to be connected at least 95% of the time. I'm tired as hell of not being connected to the company when I need it the most. I'm tired of arguing with them and it's just company policy. It's stupid because they buy new trucks and they can't give us a proper cell phone plan.
I can pay for my mobile connection myself, but I don't want to overpay. I'm sure you guys can give me some advice. In general, I work in the Midwest, but sometimes I go to the East coast.
Thank you in advice, wish you the best guys!
Best phone plan for OTR that is affordable?

Verizon has always been pretty decent for me. I live in Neb and run mostly west of Ohio.
Speedy356, Opendeckin, tscottme and 5 others Thank this. -
Verizon always gave me great coverage all over the US. They're without a doubt the best but they're also the most expensive! I was paying a little over $200 for 3 smartphones with unlimited and was a customer of their's for over 20 years. Verizon does not care about nor incentivize long time customers but they might give new ones some OK deals to get you signed up.
Happiest day of my life was when I switched over to xfinity. They utilize Verizon network for half the cost. But they're a 2nd tier provider on that network so Verizon customers get priority. It's never been an issue making or receiving calls but sometimes cell (not home/cable) internet service and speeds suffer which I'm ok with.
But in order to become an xfinity cell customer you have to bundle at least one other separate service that they offer. They will not provide just a cell service plan by itself. So this may not be an option for you. But it was fine with us because it just so happens they (xfinity/comcast) provide the best cable internet for homes in our area at the best rate. We also bundled tv service with them in this process. All in all it was over $200 a month in savings ditching other providers and much improved everything except for a tad sketchy internet service at times OTR, which again, for the savings was worth it imo.Last edited: Apr 12, 2023

Straight Talk (Walmart) works pretty well in New England. $45 a month unlimited Talk & Text (feeds off Verizon towers) - 25mb of high-speed before it's throttled.... I podcast & listen to Deezer all the time & hardly ever encroach upon the data throttling.
kros Thanks this. -
Verizon is king coast to coast, but it's expensive. 2 phones, unlimited data was $150 a month.
Went local and switched to T Mobile, 2 lines, unlimited data, $70.Stringb8n, Flat Earth Trucker, Opendeckin and 1 other person Thank this. -
Verizon done me well but as said pricey
Now have T mobile and get pretty good coverage and reasonableFlat Earth Trucker, Opendeckin and kros Thank this. -
I got AT&T 2 lines unlimited everything. One for personal one for business. Both have been very reliable everywhere I’ve been.
Paying $196 a month presently 2 IPhones , one paid off, the other I’m still paying something like $28 of what I’m paying is for the newer iPhone. And maybe $10 for Apple Music.kros Thanks this. -
Verizon for coast to coast. I almost never have no coverage at all even in the stupid rural places i go as a trucker.....but your going to pay for it. Its also got good internet coverage if you need it and their mobile business internet plan is good as well amd is actully cheaper then my home internet.
A cheaper second option is t-mobile though ive had massive issues with their customer service in the past. Got dinged on my credit for a 90 day late charge and my phones shut off because their system borked in an update and showed my account late even though i had made on time payments and had confirmation numbers.....took them THREE YEARS to fix it and get it off my credit dispite my disputes with the credit places and almost 6 months to turn my service back on, hence why i am on verizon now. But that was also when they were trying to sell themselves the first time back about 6 or 7 years ago now so i cant speak to how they are now.
Just avoid AT&T like the plauge. Ive got nothing good to say about them. Tried them 5 times in the last decade for various reasons and regreted it every bloody time.Graham Cracker and kros Thank this. -
You guys are awesome, happy to be here.
Thank you very much everyone! The Green Mountain, Graham Cracker and Opus Thank this. -
Verizon is the best network. You can use their network without paying the expensive Vzw prices by using one of the MVNO resellers of Verizon bandwidth. For example, if your home has Xfinity/Comcast home internet or cable TV you can use Xfinity Mobile. No taxes or fees, just the monthly fee for the smartphone service. I have used them for years. Great, simple less expensive than Vzw but it uses the Vzw network. My plan when OTR was $45/mo for unlimited everything.
Visible is the deep discount brand owned by Verizon. They have no stores, do everything online and only support some phones. You can get get on their unlimited everything plan and join Party Pay or Party Plan , which is a virtual family plan. You and 3 other strangers you never meet, don't know, are not obligated to share an unlimited everything for 4 person plan and each of you pay $25/mo. If you want to be connected use the Verizon network. ATT is almost as good, everyone else sacrifices certain areas so they can concentrate on cities and major highways. A low price plan that hardly ever connects is no bargain.rollin coal, Graham Cracker and kros Thank this.
