I am just about to purchase my first truck and I need to know which fuel card will be best for me. I do not want to have more than one truck (not interested in employees), so it will just be one truck. I need the best final bottom line fuel number. A lot of fuel cards advertise what their savings are, but then they are using larger fuel companies to base those savings on, when the sticker price of fuel at those locations is way higher than a lot of smaller locations. Who thinks they have the very best fuel answer for themselves and are prepared to share the information with someone wanting to learn?

I have a Kwik trip card for Wisconsin and TCS and Mudflap. TCS has better pricing then mudflap usually.

I have NASTC and highly recommend it.
You pay a membership fee ($350?) and choose one of their other products. I enrolled in their drug consortium and as an extra enrolled in their safety training.
Fueling is at TA/Petro, Ambest and a few other smaller locations. You can also get fuel at Loves in a pinch but you will not get any discount and will have to pay a small $2? Service fee. Good in an emergency nothing else.
Has an app that shows every location with the actual price you will pay. Even shows the price for the next day.
Not that I like TA/Petro a whole lot but I get a whole bunch of rewards using them. I buy a lot of fuel every month so I can get free reserved parking and a shower every day if I want. Free coffee and about $1,000 per year in points to spend.
I won’t say that you can’t save a penny or two using a different fuel card but all taken into account I think it’s the best option out there.D.Tibbitt, Accidental Trucker, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this. -
It depends on where you run and how you run. Most cost plus cards will be at TA/Petro. With $20 showers these days, being able to use them anywhere is a big plus. Typically, mom and pop stations are small with little parking as well. A lot of people use Mudflap, but their network in the south is dismal. A cost plus card will give you great prices everywhere you go. I use a Comdata via Amazon for cost plus TA/Petro and .32 off at Loves. I also have a Fleetone Edge with a Schneider rider that gives me a lot of small place discounts as well as TA/Petro cost plus. The best way to determine the best discounts is to choose a few scattered truckstops you’ll use and have people post what todays price is for them.
NASTC is the dinosaur of cost plus fuel cards. The hoops and services they make you buy just aren’t worth it in today’s fuel card market.Siinman, RunningAces and RubyEagle Thank this. -

TSD (Open Roads) Texarkana, AR. No need to sit through a NASTC class. OOIDA is cheaper and the TSD card is getting me a great discount at Loves, TA/ Petro and Speedways. Sometimes more than a $1 off the pump price.

I use the ES advantage card now.
It's self funded and cost 1% to load from bank account via ACH and 3%?(not sure because I not use it) to load from credit card.
It has also 2.50$ transaction fee.
But the discount is about 10 cent/gallon more then NASTC.
Also big plus is the love's discounts and you will get the platinum status at love's that gives you free 2shovers daily, free refill and 3 points per gallon fuel.Rookie driver 956 Thanks this. -
I use Mudflap for the times I’m not able to fuel in the yard
also I do a lot of miles in PA so might as well buy some there rather then paying it all at once at the end of the quarter
