What's peoples opinion on a good offraod non air ride suspension? I am thouroughly sick of the lean/sway of my 8 bag. Yes I know it's going to ride like crap but I dont care. I want something that will not lean on a sidehill as I go across some pretty steep ones loaded. I like Chalmers but have heard that the rubber is prone to pulling apart on the upper side when on a sidehill, letting the truck go over. Is this true on all rubber block suspensions? Not interested in Mack either. How are these rubber block Hendricksons?

Hendrickson would be my vote if ride is not an issue. All of our bigger drill rigs (tandem axles) had Hendrickson, never had a problem with a D7 hooked to the front helping drag us in areas that would make your hair standup. That was with a CP T-650 rotary mounted on the back.

I've had Peterbilt low air leaf, air leaf, air trac, and KW 8 bag. The 8 bag and low air are terrible off road suspensions with the air leaf and air trac being better, but still not great for a straight truck. These are seasonal use, 600 hr/year trucks. I am 110% sure I do not want any form of air ride.

Have you tried adding a leveling valve for side to side? My old boss ran log trucks with 8 bag with front/rear and side to side leveling valves and the drivers loved them.

The chalmers has always worked well in all the log trucks around here. One little thing to figure out. If the rubber lets go on the high side to let the truck roll over, then wouldnt the weight need to be off of that side in order to separate? SO the truck would already be rolling over before the rubber could come apart ?

Off road? Can't beat the Camelback...but you'd need to get a Mack for that. Oh well...

Until you try almost any other suspension.

Turfrac in the Western stars and the other trucks have the Henderson Haulmaxx. Both are great, out guys always argue what rides best. I think they are very close, I would buy the Turftrac again before the Haulmaxx. It rides better with no load and we all think that. If you do get the Turftrac you want to make sure it is the stage 2 with the shocks option. Makes a big difference.
