I've kept tabs on the tires that the company I'm leased to is using. This tread design here seems to be the best that they've used for off-road. They get both Firestone and Michelin with that tread design.

We were in some sticky clay-type caliche mud in Texas and I had all kinds of trouble getting up the hill and off the location once I got empty. I have closed-shoulder Uniroyal drives. Two of my buddies drove right out without flinching with this tread pattern.

But what's the speed rating on those? Be LUCKY if that's a 65 mph tire, but many I've seen that are that aggressive are only 55 mph rated. I won't put a tire on my truck unless it's a 75 mph or better tire.

    Michelin claims it's a 75 mph tire.

Yes, the XDE M/S* is a 75 mph tire...ran them for a few years until the price got to be absolutely ridiculous. Like I said, I won't put a tire on my truck that doesn't have at least a 75 mph rating. I was referring to that other tire someone posted a picture of, whatever it was.

What good is a fancy speed rated tire when youre moving along in low range off road? Let's not get distracted here.

Because you aren't off-road 100% of the time, and during that on-highway time, I don't want to be limited by my tires.

I bought 8 General HD 660 tires Nov 2016. Very tall aggressive tread. I bought them more for snow traction than off road. But discovered they do pretty good off road as well. I was in the mud down in Pharr Tx few months back. My Columbia sucksin soft or muddy situations. Its so nose heavy and light on the rears,.. if its possible to get stuck,. any wrong mistake and that truck will get stuck.

Happy to report,.. ran through the mud and did not get stuck.

I've got about 120k mi on them now. Tread is at about 65 - 70%. They are wearing perfectly. I was hoping to get 400k mi out of these when I first saw how tall the tread was. Right now I'm going to assume,. 250k - maybe 280k mi before I replace them.

Not a bad tire,. great for off road in my opinion. Just not getting the OTR mileage out of them I was expecting.

I'm running Hankook DL11 on my KW. Barely 9k mi on them right now. Too early to give any honest opinions. They are similar to the DL07's. I got 400k mi out of those on my Columbia. Hoping to see similar mileage with these for OTR. Tread design is a typical OTR tire. Not as aggressive as the Generals. But I dont think they would do to bad in off road.

I just priced out Michelin versus comparable Yokohama. Significant difference in price. Gotta look at pulling this trigger next week.
