I am finishing my contract with the navy this month so I took advantage of the skillbridge program and joined a CDL school to get my class A. I'm in school now, scheduled to graduate next week. Initially I was going to go straight to North Dakota and do whatever I needed to do to get on with an oilfield company because that's where I was working before the Navy. After doing some talking, math, and internet inspired figuring (I know it's not always the best) I figure it might be better to try to knock out some OTR experience now with long term goal in a year or two of buying a truck and doing the O/O thing for awhile. I know new guys get taken advantage of by the recruiters alot for these companies so I wanted some input from you guys on what's the best route for getting behind the wheel and making as much money as possible as a new driver. Any reccomendations or benefits with specific companies that I should know about?? TIA

TMC hires a lot of Military Veterans. If you're interested in flatbed I would give them a look. Good luck & thank-you for your service.

Is your domicile in Colorado and does your cdl have a Colorado address?
Do you have endorsements?
Which city/town are you in or near?
`
Did you get the "USN Never Again" tattoo?

It will be out of Grand Junction but I can travel anywhere for work, that's not an issue, I'm just looking for the best paychecks while I'm new at this.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Those 3 OTR companies I already listed are good for new cdl school grads.
Do you want to be home often or daily or does that matter?
Apply to any company you like, even if you don't think you'll be hired. Many trucking companies have some flexibility in hiring even if their ads have "experience required". -
Here's one with an excellent reputation and low turnover in drivers.
You'll qualify with all the endorsements.
