I always knew sleeping would be the hardest part of this job for me, and now I'm trying my ####edest to get some much-needed rest. They did give us a new mattress when we were assigned our truck, but it's nothing special. Just a firmish foam pad. I'm definitely not getting enough real sleep.
When money starts coming in, I want to upgrade to something that is more shock absorbent. What do you all recommend? Please include in your response if sleeping was an issue for you going in.
Thanks!
Best mattress for your sleeper

Also please give instructions for getting a good mattress through the door and into the bunk.
Not much space to work with.
I think the original mattress was brought in before anything else was installed.
Like, the roof.RustyChops41, CoveringBases and Dharok Thank this. -
If you are having trouble sleeping you aren't working hard enough.
You could try flatbed, or if they doesn't work maybe a dollar store account with driver unload.
Or try delivering tires.shatteredsquare, ChevyCam, SuperRookie and 5 others Thank this. -

I just buy cheap twin sized mattress pads from Walmart for 10$. If you pay for a decent mattress what happens when something goes wrong? Say youre 800miles from home and you drop an engine, Dealer says it will be at least a week till they can repair it, what is you company going to do? Can you fit that mattress into a rental car? Or you wreck, get backed into at a truck stop etc.
If I owned the truck I would upgrade it, but not as a company driver.CoveringBases, Bean Jr. and Hoodoo Voodoo Thank this. -
I picked up the 3 inch mattress topper from Wal Mart, the one with memory foam and cooling gel beads or some such. Nothing really wrong with the mattress, just a bit on the firm side. Twin fit perfectly over mattress, sleeps cooler, no more pressure points.
Prepare to part with about $125 or so IIRC. No regrets and much cheaper and easier to deal with than a whole new mattress.CoveringBases and Hoodoo Voodoo Thank this. -
I just spent 30 bucks at Walmart on a 1.5 inch memory foam topper for my innerspring mattress. Worth every penny.

Yes, the memory foam TTR win size topper at Walmart for about $80 is what I have been using the last four years. Two inches thick and the best sleep I've had. If you are teaming it helps reduce road shock (you poor #######).
