Does anyone know what's where to go where you can get back out with good pay both ways, I been doing ok but still learning & somedays I just get to stressed out on the load boards, wished the brokers would just post a rates & be done with it, makes me feel like I am a lot lizard trying to sell my service at times talking with the brokers & takes too much time. Thanks

Well we spend the whole day looking at loads, calling brokers, and getting things together. But as lanes go try finding a broker that works good with you can that can get you good money both ways, I have a new owner operator that all he wants to do is run east coast out of Michigan or Indiana. So we need to find him loads out there... Non of my trucks run east but ive started to look into it. Ive found that prices never go good both ways, so what we try to do it se try to get $3p/m then on the way back we do 1.40 and it seems good for now.

Pretty much from what I have learned studying Landstars load board for dry freight the best round trip would be between Chicago and Atlanta area back and forth or just stay bouncing around the midwest.

Probably no one with this information is going to be willing to post it for the public to read. They spent years paying for it in time and effort.

You have a good customer there, willing to pay extra so that you can come back at a breakeven rate.
But why? Seems like they could find a backhauler to haul their loads and save lots of money. Maybe someone from the other end would be happy to get two dollars and save them a dollar a mile which would add up to a bunch over time.
I know what you are doing here but I would much rather be fair to my customer than to haul other peoples freight cheap and ask my customer to make up the difference. In fact, since I can get a fair rate going to your area,I could give them a nice break and :biggrin_2559: all the way to the bank.
Every load could be a backhaul to someone, including your outbound loads. :biggrin_25525:

I can't tell from your post how you are conducting business but if you are just delivering a load and hitting the boards to find another one then it will be frustrating. But eventually you might find some that will work with you and be able to get a fair rate both ways. Or you could work with a larger brokerage and if you provide good service for them, then they will be waiting for you to get empty and preplan for you. But you will have to prove yourself first.

Example; I have a friend who drives for a van outfit with about fifty trucks. He never sits anywhere and very little deadhead. The last load that he hauled before the holiday weekend was a chr load which brought him back to homebase. Now he is loaded with outbound customer load for Tuesday delivery.Stay home for the weekend and leave Monday afternoon. The point here is this, the company has a few local customers and a few good friends that help them stay moving and get the trucks back to homebase a quickly as possible to serve their customers.

Ever tried a dispatching service or a friend/relative at home to help you with your dispatching?

Good how? This is simply Decreasing the freight rates for everyone else. If everyone keeps hauling cheap freight then the rates will never get better. I would deadhead home or to another area before accepting $1.40.

That would be like inviting in the competition.:biggrin_2559:
