I've had so so luck with various types of mounts for the larger GPS Units made by Garmin, Rand McNally, PC Miller, Cobra, Magellan, ect. Tried the various:
a)Window Suction Mounts
b)Bean Bag Mounts
c)Vent Mounts
d)Passenger Seat Mounts
e)Visor Mounts
f)Flat Rubber Dash Mounts
Thus far, I've had the best luck with the "Flat Rubber" Type Dash Mounts. Some even contour to the dash with slight curves. Please provide you're feedback on what works best for these larger GPS units. I have found the bean bag mounts prevent the GPS from tilting downward for better viewing. I have noticed the bean bags mounts with the open front to alleviate this problem. Not sure the success rate though.

I have the 7" Magellan unit. I had to customize a mount for it from a couple of different mounts I had from old GPS'.
But basically I have the round plastic disc attached to my dash then I Gorilla glued the base of the mount to the disc.
This particular GPS slides on and off of its mount via grooves on the back so it's still easily removable.. -
the front of the GPS also rest on the dash with one of those sticky pads underneath it
there is enough room to set my cell phone in front of the unit on the sticky pad too
works great -
I have my topless blond co driver hold it by hand for my viewing. She does a great job! ( I just have trouble concentrating when driving!)

Cant mount them on the windshield in some states, just something to keep in mind.
