Who is the best flatbed company to lease to for the southeast. I'm based out of Atlanta, company driver right now but looking to get my own truck and run flatbed. Have experience mostly with steel coils and oversize loads of plate. I know of mercer and land star and from the load board that they show you on their website it looks like land star has more freight in the south and mercer is more north but I have heard that mercer is better.

Always remember that what you see on public boards for each company is loads that drivers who are leased on didn't want.

Both companies are fine. I have my favorite of course LOL. There is one other I can think of TSH (Tenn Steal Haulers). I know little about them but I'm sure you intend to do your research anyhow. Good luck to you sir.
jmorris3288 and BruceF Thank this. -

Check out Packard Transportation in Channahon Illinois. A friend of mine lives about an hour east of Atlanta (Madison Georgia ). He can run long runs and other times he choses to run regional around the southeast.
He is happy with them and gets good fuel discounts. -
You do know that Bennett is in McDonough, GA, don't you?

Landstar, mercer, Tennessee steel haulers are all the same. Not a dimes difference in any of them. Cheap freight and hard work. They're laughing all the way to the bank while the lease operator shoulders the cost and performs the labor. Look hard in your area have some serious conversations with some potential customers and get your authority if you want to make anything of it.

Absolutely if a person is in the trucking business I sure don't see the reasoning on putting somebody else's name on my truck and letting them take a quarter or more of the profit. It's senseless. Figure it up 25 percent over how many lease operators shouldering the cost of actually moving the freight down the road.
