Once I am otr I would like to find a (prolific) fitness center that is open 24/7 and has showers, low monthly (month to month would be ideal, in case I find something better) fee.
Anyone here use a fitness membership?

If I could, I'd take my road bike with me but..... Where to put it??? So a fitness center would be okay. Obviously, I wouldn't be able to go everyday but hopefully during resets, maybe a quick extra spin once in awhile. If I could get to one at least once a week, I'd be okay with that.

Yeah, there is a perfect exercise facility every time you park. Park the furthest away from the shipper or where you take your 34. You will get plenty of exercise WALKING if you park furthest from. It is your choice.

Carry some small free weights, a yoga mat, jump rope, and your bike. I've known guys who slightly disassemble and put together for riding.

Save your money and invest in yourself, jump ropes, free weights, walking, & nothing like being flexible stretch and more stretch. Eat well drink plenty water let vegetables fruit be the main course & meat be the side piece.

I typically remove the front wheel on my road bike and store it on the upper bunk. I'm solo and have no interest in running team so this has been a non issue for me. Obviously, if your rig doesn't have an upper bunk, this won't work.

After each ride, I take some disposable disinfectant wipes and clean everything off. I invested in a very good bike which I put together myself (it's cheaper IF you know what you're doing). But I've seen guys who have beaters just strap it to the back of their tractors.

I also have a yoga mat, perfect push ups, and some free weights which really don't take up much space. This is nice because I can always get a decent workout at any truck stop.

On some highways, you'll see those rest areas with jungle gyms. I often do pull ups and push ups there when I take my 30.

As for which gyms to join, it really depends on the areas you travel to. You'll have to do your research and find out what works best for you.

And every once in a while, I don't mind paying a day pass if the numbers work in my favor. For example, last year, I emptied in Charlotte. Because dispatch screwed up, I had to sit an entire day. Instead of going to the local truck stop, I checked online for a place where I can shop, take my break, and workout. There was one 10 minutes away.

Once there, I paid $10 for a day pass at the gym (the one I belong to didn't have a branch nearby), got in a good workout, showered, did some shopping at the market next door, and just rested until my trailer was ready. The way I see it, a shower at a truck stop would've costed the same (I didn't have any free ones left on my card) AND all the money I saved by buying my food at a market was well worth it.

I also have membership to a national chain that I bought a long time ago. I only pay $50 a year and it gets me into most locations (they don't offer this deal anymore, and I'm not about to give up a smoking deal).

Then it's just a matter of knowing the area.

Can I take the whole tractor/trailer there or just bobtail? For example, when I go to Vegas or Denver, I know I have to drop my trailer and bobtail to the gym. Same with the Dallas and Houston. There's one place in Salt Lake City where it's possible to take the whole rig, but only if I know I'll be leaving around 5-6am local time.

And there are other locations where I can easily take tractor and trailer, workout, shower, and take my break. It just comes down to knowing basic logistics and common sense.

If I'm going somewhere new, I'll check google earth and see what the parking situation is. But I've been doing this long enough to know that if I'm going to take my break in a certain city, I know what my options are.

What I like about this is, just as you've hinted, it's nice to get in a workout and a shower.

I just re-read the OP and it sounds like you don't really know where they'll be sending you. Until you know this, be careful committing to a gym membership. You might end up hardly using it.

I use planet fitness and have a list of gyms where I can park nearby on the street or behind a shopping center. You'll start to remember where you can and can't use the gym. I pay $20 a month and they have showers, tanning beds, massage chairs. All kinds of equipment available at pf.

I will make one comment though. The low price does tend to attract a "certain crowd" to the planet fitness gyms that I have been to. Just don't leave your valuables in the locker.

Also depends on the location too. If you go to a planet fitness in South los angeles, South sacramento, etc...you will find the cholos and tweakers think the gym is great and affordable as well.
