If I dicided to get rid of my monkey made and go with the factory setup with dual antennas, what would be the best ones to use? Opinions plz... I saw one guy around here had 2 10k's and switched to some kind of black fiberglass antennas. Im running a General Lee and gonna be hooking up my 300 watt black cat amp.

Francis* and at least a 5 foot'r(Firesticks are junk and break easily)
Mount it as far out on the hanger as you can get it with about 1-2* forward tilt
    to compensate for the wind.

Even with a basic SWR meter they can easily be tuned down to 1:3
with a fine blade hacksaw or Dremel

Skipshooters indeed....Love my 4' pair. They come in a variety of colors and sizes too, 2' -7', red, white, blue and black. Tuning tip is acually a nail with a set screw, rather than the custom piece used by firestick. This way if you break the tip or lose it, a nail is readily available for a low price :)

FRANCIS is the way to go, put them on and your done, NO worries about the SWR. Only thing is I don't remember how much power they can Handle !!!Known drivers that run them on a stock radio and they get out.

Skip shooter or Wilson silver load are both very good antennas, Neither of which will perform like your Monkey made though. I went through your exact hell a few months ago on my pickup truck and tried most popular fiberglass antennas to replace a P10K. They all fell short specifically on recieve. I ended up with a 108" whip to maintain "possibly better" the 10K's performance.

Do tell of the 10K's demise ?
Mounting a 10K on a 4wheeler has generally NEVER been the 10K's fault
User error in possibly near 99% in most cases.
When installed and tuned out,the 10K is a great stick across the board, you can even "work" the naughty channels very well :biggrin_2559:

I do like to run the whips (102-108 )especially when jacking the watts up
over 1K in a Big Unit. (thats trucker speak for the Big Truck,. . . . ham's)
