I don't know where the right place would be to ask this, but I've got about a year total driving experience OTR and am looking for the best driveaway company. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

There's not much difference in what you're driving away. It's still an awful deal for the driver. You pay for all fuel, all your hotel rooms (can't sleep in the trucks), and your return trip (whether by plane, bus, towed car, hitchhiking). I've never met anyone who was successful at it. Type drive away in the search bar and read all the threads by guys who lost their shirts doing it.

It has been years for me. In my opinion you should stay away from drive a way jobs with carriers like Bennett in Mcdonough Ga. Like another poster said if you want to work for free apply. If I were 35 years younger with a class A CDL and wanted to work in that business I would go to the nearest Truck Class 8 assembly plant and apply with the forwarding company there. If you do get a job you will be provided an airline ticket back to to the place you started from. You will be forced to undeck the trucks even in the rain and lug a tookbox with you. Now these are union jobs and for a long time you will be the low man on the pole. If there are any layoffs you will be the first to go. I honestly think if you have a class A your better off just driving OTR.

I have my Class A CDL, I lost my med card and long form, CR England is refusing to give me a copy of them. And most companies want 2 years or more OTR experience. My biggest downfall is I worked for CRE for about 5 months, got hurt, was forced to resign due to injury, and spent 9 months healing. My DAC is clean, and only thing on my driving record in the last 3 years is a seatbelt ticket. I've also had 3 surgeries since April of this year, so I don't know if that's going to hinder me getting a job as well.
