We decided to go with a credit card for fuel oppose to the fuel card.

We are thinking Chase or Capitol One.

Can anyone recommend a really good credit card for fuel purchases?

No annual fee and something that pays at least 2% cash back.

Now will a cc pay cash back on fuel too, not just gas?

I think the Chase card I'm looking at has no annual fee and 3% cash back on purchases.

3% is about a wash on the credit vs cash price discount. And it had better be a business card, $4-5k/month on fuel and Chase will shut it down...know from experience, they won't even call you to let you know...
Here's a thought, get a NASTC card and save yourself several thousands per year.

Earn up to 3% cash back on business purchases
with the Business Advantage Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
3% on purchases at gas stations and office supply stores (up to $250,000 in gas station and office supply store purchases annually, 1% after that)

Even with 3% cash back, you are essentially just paying the cash pump price... Heck, Pilot will give you a fuel card with a .14/gallon discount...on 350 gallon/week that would save you $200/month
    Edited for math corrections

Question was for best Credit Card, this is answer, for fuel card single owner operators NASTC is best. On TA in NY state up to 65cents.

Some mom & pop independents treat cc purchase same as cash. The place I frequent on my lane does.

NASTC is not worth it for me, believe me, I looked into extensively. Neither is the Pilot 0.14 discount.

One size does not fit every situation.

True, this why I answered for card which I used for 2 years without any issue, when I used mom/pop very often diesel quality is so bad, fuel efficient got worse for 1 mpg, down from 6.7 to 5.7, prefer TA or Flying J USLD #2 only, if 20% BIO stay a way.
