Hey all - hopefully someone out there can shed some knowledge on good, trustworthy companies that offer paid training for newcomers to the industry.

My brother and I are looking to escape our corporate America jobs, as that lifestyle just isn't for us. We are looking to become OTR truckers with the hopes of starting our own company. I used to work for a factoring company, (RTS and I hated it lol) and I have a lot of the knowledge on some stuff. Obviously nowhere even close where it needs to be, but I was wondering what are some good companies to drive for that will pay for our CDL's? My brother and I are looking to be team drivers for a couple years to learn the industry fully before starting our own company... Any suggestions help and God Bless

Where is your location? You'll need to find OTR companies that hire in your area.

Awesome, appreciate the recommendations. What are your thoughts on Prime Inc or Schneider? Are those good companies to start with?

They're both ok for training, but Schneider has a reputation for small paychecks.
One driver on this forum said he struggled to make even $38K with Schneider.
Prime drivers say the pay is pretty good.

Prime will likely want to shove you into a lease purchase, and their training will consist of putting you in a truck with some poor soul who signed up for a lease, but now needs you to help pay the note - you'll be listening to him snoring as you're being 'trained'.

If you want maximum revenue for a team operation, your best bet is LTL. But you gotta start somewhere.

    Good luck.
