I live in Las Vegas, NV and the job market here SUCKS for a cdl driver! Very few jobs, low pay, and very competitive for the FEW jobs that do come available every blue moon. Philadelphia PA, Chicago IL, and Pittsburgh PA all seem to have really good paying home daily jobs but I want to hear what you guys think? What is the best city to live as far as GOOD PAYING LOCAL JOBS? I dont care about weather, or things to do. I have 5yrs otr experience no tickets no accidents no criminal background.

Some places with high paying jobs also have high taxes and high cost of living, that don't make it worthwhile.

Care to expound? I'm out of Dallas but originally from Pine Bluff, AR (lol) and I wouldn't mind relocating to Memphis or West Memphis. No state tax in TX is nice tho

    Well...

Memphis is number three hub in freight. If you survived PB then there is no problem in Memphis for you. Not that there isnt any problems in that city. (There is)

A new steel mill is in oscela, remember where that is? Big giant Germanic Krupp monstrosity of a billion dollar mill. Might be something there for you at 80000 thou a year salary. And they must have coils. That takes trucks

Memphis for me equals McKesson. I see that is a stable freight industry for the next 50 years until all of us pill popping old geezers kick the bucket. HA...

Thats all I can think of for now. Chicago, Dallas and probably St louis would compete for trucking.

Sioux Falls SD , no state income tax , more jobs than people , great place to raise a family low to no crime no daily shoot outs or drivebys , you can be in the boonies in 30 minutes , laid back trucking routes with just you and a fence post.
And the Governor is a Fox.

True. But my wife works from home and makes really good money so we can pretty much move anywhere so where would you suggest?

Memphis is a crossroads of several interstate highways.
I wouldn't live in Memphis, but a little north for living is good in small towns like Germantown.
Estes Express pays really well there; probably $80K your first year doing line haul.
I think there's a big terminal north of Memphis that hires Memphis area drivers.
@KaoMinerva works there and can fill you in on the details.
