I just bought a new 780 so you can tell which way I would go. However I think it comes down to which one is the prettiest.

I have truck number 1) an 08 tho and no joke emmessions will make you broke. The ARD Head goes out often something they fail brand new from the box. Cat went to a company to knock off the bendix air compressor it sucks it pumps oil. After the rebuild starting doing the same thing I am going to switch it out for a bendix. The C13 doesn't have the power it claim or torque. My truck stuggles to climb hills at 80,300. Like the truck just not the baby motor.

The ARD head is $1,300 it's an easy fix if you do it yourself. If you buy it from a cat dealer, and it goes out within the year they will warranty it for you but you have to pay for labor. I read a post somewhere that someone just sent air thru, the ARD injectors to blow out the junk. There reasoning was its on a low pressure line and the rest are on high pressure. Note to self if you do fix it wait for your truck to be completely cold. Hot diesel in the eye/ face is fun.

Its looking like a Volvo is in my future. Haven't decided on Miller yet. Curious why no one suggested I stay and keep rolling the freightliner? Grateful for all the replies so far!

Shaker's not all bad, except for the leaky windshield, and the wind blowing through the cab. I loved the Century's I drove, the Cascadia's aren't the same. All the seats in them aren't the same that's for dam sure, some of them are spec'd with some that are about as comfortable as a park bench.
The Volvo dealer in Phoenix runs circles around the Shaker dealer as well.
All that said, money talks & BS walks. They have a new Cascadia with a 500 horse Cummins / 13 speed / OO spec down at Shaker asking $117. Even though its A Cummins, if I wanted a truck right now, I'd being asking can you shave a little more off that price, and what do you want down lol.

Whatever you do, do not buy a caterpillar with a dpf attached to it. Unless you want to for sure "make a million in trucking" by starting with 2 million.
