Well one of my instructors as I have more than one at my school said international trucks are poorly built and the worst trucks. He says peterbilt/kenworth/and Mack are the top 3 best trucks. Freight liner and Volvo being middle of the road.

A Mack is a Volvo and both them are better than a freightliner.

I’ve never driven a new intertrashional but yes the old ones are loud, creaking and leaking trucks, I don’t mind mine though.

I drive a Volvo sleeper and an old ### international day cab.

And that's his opinions. Opinions are like, well, you know what. Everyone has one, and they smell like crap.

Generally, KWs and Petes are better constructed. Drivers who like comfort do tend to like Volvos, but they do tend to be cheaply constructed, and complicated and difficult (expensive) to work on. The same can be said about Freightliners.

A lot of people dump on Internationals, but the few I've driven were workhorses that didn't give up. Throw some fresh oil at them every now and again and they just kept going.

And that's my opinion. Others can think very differently. Companies change, and things change. Trucks change.

Whoever said IH was poorly constructed, that's just not true. IH used to be the best truck out there, not the nicest, not the toughest, just the best all around truck. For me, there's 3 types of trucks. Mack, the toughest, the "large cars", Pete ,KW, and Western Star, then the "generic" ones, IH, Freightliner, Volvo. Aside from Mack, all the other trucks are pretty much the same under the plastic and all do a good job. In America, where more money means a nicer truck, the more you spend, gets you a nicer cab, maybe a bit better engineering, ( the way things are laid out) but they all pretty much do the same thing today.

I've owned them all, other than a Mack, but that is a Volvo... I currently own an International ProStar, it has been a nightmare when compared to the other brands. But, after a few years of blood sweat and tears it is now a pretty good truck. I would say, they all have their issues, and all will give you fits eventually. Most of that blame goes to the government and their EPA mandate. The manufacturers have had to cut corners to make up for the lost monies on warranty repairs and emission issues inherent in these new trucks. I was at the Kenworth plant in Chillicothe OH a year or two ago, and one of the old timers there said stay away from KW, as they have cheapened the overall structure of the cabs and electrical. Now a days, any brand is a crap shoot.

The old macks sucked. Newer ones were nice. Don't think I'd want one today if vulva owns them.

The big 3 trucks with the big 3 motors. Easier and cheaper to fix. Not that proprietary crap with the Vulva name.
