Steak and Salads, No Sugar or anything that turn into sugar, Fat can be your friend, I also eat lots of Kidney beans with my steak, wish it could be potatoes, but alas not more spuds. I drink Iced tea, black coffee, water.. When in doubt check your blood sugar after you drink something. Water helps keep it down.

Guess my morning breakfast should be changed; seems and 8 oz glass of wine with a plate of hash brown potatoes isn't healthy.

They didn’t mention a McDonalds milkshake with bakers dozen chocolate chip cookies. Had that last night. My idea of a wild party. In my defense, it was 10:00 pm and I hadn’t eaten all day. Today it was 1 peanut butter and jelly, 1/2 peanut butter and honey, 1 glass of skim milk, at 11:00 pm. Hadn’t eaten all day. I’ve lost 27 lbs. so far. Working on at least another 13 lbs. I know it is opposite all good diet recommendations. Works for me though. Waiting all day and eating what’s satisfying at the time . I not only tend to eat smaller portions, but also avoid the energy drop I get from eating. It’s still amazing to me how nowadays things I eat affect my energy levels. Especially high carb junk. A couple pop tarts for breakfast turns me into a zombie for a few hours. Turns out they were right about eating healthy. All the evidence is there. Never mattered till I hit around 50 yrs, old. I still believe we crave what our bodies need. I crave peanut butter because it has niacin. which has a calming effect. Same reason I crave nicotine. I struggle making choices about what to eat, and try not to over eat, causing health problems. Meanwhile others are starving. Somethings wrong with this picture.

I like it , but the tatoes dont like me any more, so I can have as many eggs, with sausage and cheese as I want, black coffee, Does not spike the blood sugar at all.

As an insulin-dependent diabetic, you quickly learn what the glycemic index means. I also use Lyumjev in my Omnipod Insulin Pump. I pre bolus based on that index. Normally I eat about 15 minutes later. I do eat a baked tater several times a week. Some mornings I eat 2 slices of toast with peanut butter along with a banana or an apple. My A1C normally hovers from 5.9 to 6.2.

My only vice is coffee. My doctor got onto me about it a while back and Keri was in the room and the 3 of us discussed this. I looked at the doctor and said "Doc I can't chase women and I can't drink alcohol. My life is a constant battle dealing with seizures and trying to maintain as much independence as possible. Now you want to take my last vice away." Keri snorted and the doctor just went back to his tablet.

Occasionally I can eat a SMALL slice of pie or cake. As long as I watch the portions and the frequency paying close attention to the Glycemic Index I am doing OK.

    Your mileage may vary!

Calming effect of nicotine is an illusion. Your anxiety from withdrawal goes away is all that is while your blood pressure goes up.

Here's what you should eat, STOP EATING and allow your body to get into a state of ketosis. That quite literally has been proven to reverse the effects of diabetes plain and simple. Eating stimulates insulin and stimulating too much insulin to regularly over too long of a period of time is what causes type 2 diabetes.

In America we eat way too much, way too often, and on top of that so many of the foods we eat contribute to the poor health we experience. If you have serious issues try eating meat only for 30 days, if you don't want to eat meat only I would recommend chicken eggs and other animal food product.

I think what the bigger issue is is not necessarily what we eat in terms of let's say vegetables versus meat but rather actual food quality and how much concentration of things like glyphosate and seed oils (aka vegetable oils) are in the foods we consume because those things contribute to more health issues than the foods themselves at a base level.
