I know they were bought by kag in 2003. Any former beneto drivers on here? Or does anyone know how the company was run or how the pay was?
I'm just curious because I know they changed the tanker industry with their equipment and safety methods. Any info would be much appreciated.

I worked for Beneto for 5yrs prior to the sale, then many years afterward. Steve Beneto is a very savvy business man, he made all the deals. They treated you bad, but the pay and the schedule was great. When KAG bought them, They kept the 'management' in place. These guys had no management training or experience in marketing. Without Steve's leadership, the customers started going elsewhere. As customers left, the solution was to intimidate drivers, ask drivers to bring in business while on the golf course (???) spread rumors about drivers, cut driver pay, vandalize drivers personal vehicles; ( throwing cups of soda, garbage into drivers cars) When I started there, there were 50 drivers between 2 shifts. When I left, there was 14. As long as they keep then uneducated Beneto Bully Boys around, this will not be a good place to work. One former vice president bragged that with only a 7th grade education, he was pulling down $175,000.00 a year. Which is just what you want to hear in a safety meeting after YOU took a $15,000.00 pay cut. ( yeah, that was Bill) I would not even consider suggesting anyone work there until all the Beneto Boys are gone. Although, from what I see on this forum, the other KAG terminals don't sound any different or better. The faces may change, but the game stays the same. Go to FDS, or Williams, but don't think about here as it stands. Ask some of the drivers you see at the racks if they're paid for everything they do or if working for free is " how you get paid, driver!" ( Thank you Karl V. for that quote.)

Thanks Jim! I have worked for FDS for 3 months and love it! Its my first tanker job and I don't plan on leaving lol.
Did Beneto require you to polish those trucks? How much were drivers making in a year? Were the drivers happy and how was the turnover or working conditions at beneto? -
be safe out there, and have a happy holiday!
